The AADvance controller checks its measured input values by continuously detecting possible calibration drift. The controller uses a variety of hardware to compare two measurements. It is recommended that you perform this calibration drift check once every two years. You can ensure that the analog input is within the specified accuracy range (±0.05mA) without making the module stop working using the following procedures:
1. Use AADvance® workbench software or AADvance®-Trusted®SIS workstation software to lock the input channels.
• Input values freeze, allowing the program to continue running.
2. Disconnect the field device at the terminal assembly and connect a calibration current analog instrument at its location.
3. Set the current analog meter to 4ma, ensuring that the input value is between 3.95 mA and 4.05 mA.
4. Set the power supply for the current analog meter to 12ma and ensure that the input range is 11.95 mA to 12.05 mA.
5. Set the power supply for the current analog meter to 20ma and ensure that the input range is 19.95 mA to 20.05 mA.
6. Disconnect the current simulation instrument and connect the field device.
7. Tighten the terminal screw with a minimum torque of 0.5 Nm (0.37 ft. lb.).
8. Ensure that the field equipment displays satisfactory values.
9. Unlock the input channel.
• Input is recovered.
If desired, you can include this calibration test in the verification test of the loop instead. To do this, connect a calibrated ammeter in series to the field unit in step 2 in the circuit; Use field equipment to drive input.
