The hydraulic dynamic pressure sensor system is composed of 350300 hydraulic dynamic pressure sensor using piezoresistive sensing technology and 146824 interconnection cable. It is used to measure static and dynamic pressures in fluid machinery, such as water turbines or centrifugal pumps. For hydraulic turbine applications, this measurement helps our customers monitor hydraulic phenomena such as coarse load zones in the tailpipe and end cap areas, eddy currents and cavitation, and pulsations in pressure lines. For centrifugal pump applications, this measurement helps customers monitor cavitation and other flow instabilities that may be harmful to machinery and operation.
Characteristics and advantages
The sensor is an integral part of a hydraulic turbine or centrifugal pump condition monitoring and asset management System, and when used in conjunction with our 3500/46M Hydro Monitor and System 1* condition monitoring and diagnostic software, static trends and dedicated dynamic graphs can be used for diagnosis. The dynamic pressure sensor features a rugged design for high reliability in factory environments and is designed for 50 million cycles.
Turbine monitoring
Gain competitive advantage by improving asset reliability.
In today’s world of partially deregulated utilities and grid systems, where fish and water issues often outweigh energy issues, the operational flexibility of hydraulic machinery often makes them load following units with continuous load variations and partial load operation. Operating the unit under partial load brings with it considerations such as coarse load zones and cavitation, as well as operations away from the unit’s peak efficiency. In addition, continuous load cycles impose thermal, mechanical and electrical stresses on the machine that were not even considered in the original design.
To meet these needs, the Bentley Nevada team developed our most comprehensive hydrogenerator condition monitoring system ever: a 3500-series monitoring module with advanced features tailored specifically for hydroelectric units; New sensor for monitoring generator air gap, low frequency seismic and stator end winding vibration. Based on our own knowledge and partnerships with many of the most prominent industry players, new hydropower specific features include partial discharge support and embedded intelligence in System 1* software.
