GE verifies that the Bently Nevada 3500 series protection system is designed to fully meet API 670, the technical specification for the world’s most widely used mechanical protection system. For reciprocating compressor applications, the 3500 Series also meets API 618 standards. DNV and Class NK certificates for offshore applications are available. Further, a TUV functional safety certificate may be available for applications requiring up to complete Integrity Level (SIL)3 when used as a component of a safety instrumentation system. In addition, the 3500 series has been certified to meet the relevant Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Factory Mutual (FM), GOST, ATEX and CE requirements.

3,500. – That’s the absolute best
Since the 5000 series products in the 1960s, we have launched 7 generations of products, which have become the most successful monitoring platform. These lessons are now embedded in the most advanced, powerful, and reliable system we have to offer to date: the Bently Nevada 3500 series protection system.
certified
The Series 3500 is designed to meet API 670, the most widely used mechanical protection system specification in the world. For reciprocating compressor applications, the 3500 Series also meets API 618 standards. The system is available on order with DNV and Class NK certificates for offshore applications, such as offshore platforms and Marine propulsion applications. Further, a TUV functional safety certificate may be available for applications requiring up to complete Integrity Level (SIL)3 when used as a component of a safety instrumentation system. In addition, 3500 series
Has been certified to meet relevant Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Factory Mutual (FM), GOST, ATEX, and CE requirements.
reliability
We understand that our system is not only used on a daily basis to indicate, but also to provide automatic shutdown protection. That’s why, even in the most single-function model, the Series 3500 is the most reliable monitoring system we’ve ever offered. With extensive self-detection and fault-tolerant design features, it can be configured with multiple levels of redundancy, ranging from the addition of a second fully redundant power supply to a full triple modular redundancy (TMR) configuration. It can be used for either selected channels or all channels, fully satisfying your most mission-critical applications.
connectivity
Connecting to health monitoring and diagnostic software has never been easier than 3500. With the 3500, there are no bulky external modules, no additional wiring, and no extra rack slots. You can communicate with our System 1* software using only the Ethernet interface on the 3500/22M rack interface module and a network cable. Connections to plant control and automation systems are equally straightforward. Only need to install a communication gateway module. You can even add multiple gateways when there is a requirement to provide communication redundancy, or when there is a requirement that you must support multiple systems using different communication protocols.
flexibility
The 3500 Series also features the industry’s most extensive selection of device measurement parameters, which, combined with software configuration, provides virtually all monitoring options. We can also supply a variety of monitors for local or remote installation, and you can also operate the 3500 without a monitor. The result is unrivaled flexibility to accommodate almost any application.
Field verification
The 3500 series system has proven its value and credibility to customers everywhere over the years. It has installed more than 20,000 racks worldwide.
Connectivity of System 1 software
Securing your critical equipment with the 3500 Series system is an important step. But there are more effective ways of managing assets than protection. The 3500 System can also be used as a fully functional gateway for GE’s powerful System 1 software, enabling fully proactive health monitoring and in-depth analysis.
System 1 software integrates portable data acquisition meters, permanent monitoring systems, manual inputs, and automated system data into a unified monitoring platform.
Connecting System 1 software has never been easier, as the 3500 is designed to fully integrate all data acquisition and communication functions into the rack. Simply provide an Ethernet cable from your System 1 server computer to the 3500/22M interface of the rack interface module and use our convenient software configuration features to enable the appropriate channel of the rack. It’s as simple as that. No need to worry about external junction boxes or wiring, no separate signal adjustment or interface device.
This way, you can go beyond just protecting the device, plus the active management capability of 3500 makes it much easier for us to implement these functions.
M2 technology
Although all 3500 monitors can communicate with System 1 software to provide status and numerical data, the M2 on the panel
The symbol (as well as the “M” letter in the part number) indicates that these modules are also capable of providing high-bandwidth dynamic waveform data. This dynamic data provides a precise picture of the mechanical condition of the shaft at each turn, allowing you to more effectively diagnose and manage your equipment assets. If you see the M2 flag, it indicates this enhanced “device management” capability.
Decision support
3500. System 1 software, combined with decision support, provides your critical equipment with the most advanced technology available to proactively detect and avoid problems.
The decision support function, which is unique to System 1 software, automatically reviews the data collected by the user based on embedded rules and knowledge, detects mechanical or thermodynamic problems, and generates Actionable Information* recommendations. Creating your own rules is easy and requires no special programming skills, just dragging and dropping logical and number operators into any sequence of conditions that correspond to a particular failure.
When a specific fault or condition is detected, the System 1 software alerts the factory staff in real time about the problem, how serious it is, and how to deal with it. An Actionable Information message can be used to inform the factory staff, and it is fully configurable and reflects your specific running practices and procedures. It supports notification methods including mobile phones, pagers, PDS, E-mail, pop-ups for computers and process control systems, and even traditional analog signalers dashboard.
