ABB introduces its new GoFa™ collaborative robot, which sets new industry standards with higher loads, greater work range and superior repeatable positioning accuracy.
With Cat 3/PLd security certification, you can work side by side with others.
Easy programming and rapid deployment further lowers barriers to entry for first-time users, smes and educators.ABB introduces two new GoFaTM cobots, GoFa 10 and GoFa 12, adding new possibilities for more efficient cobot automation. With loads of 10kg and 12kg, the two co-bots have excellent repeatable positioning accuracy and can work closely with workers to accomplish more tasks, improving safety and productivity while addressing labor and skill shortages. The new GoFa collaborative robots support easy and intuitive programming and can be quickly integrated into production environments, lowering the barrier to entry for first-time users, educators and smes.
“Since the launch of the YuMi collaborative robot in 2015, ABB has built an industry-leading portfolio of collaborative robots to meet the growing demand for safe and easy to use automation solutions and fill a gap in the technology workforce,” said Marco Scone, global president of ABB’s robotics business unit. “To meet the demand for cobots with higher loads and greater work range, our GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 cobots extend the benefits of automation to new industrial applications, benefiting even first-time robot users,” he added.
In addition to the increased load capacity, the GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 cobots have a central Point of tool (TCP) speed of up to 2m/s and a leading repeatable positioning accuracy of up to 0.02mm, double that of other comparable solutions. At the same time, the IP67 protection rating of the GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 is designed to protect against moisture and dust, extending the advantages of high speed and high accuracy of cobots to new industrial applications, especially for automation demanding tasks such as machining, welding, material handling, polishing and assembly. The GoFa 10 has an operating range of up to 1.62m, which is 14% better than comparable products and enough to cover American pallets, making it ideal for palletizing applications.
Lower automation barriers for first-time users and smes
The GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 cobots are intuitive and easy to program, deploy and use, lowering the barrier to automation for first-time users and smes. Its guided programming and ABB’s Wizard Easy programming software greatly simplify setup and eliminate the need to write complex programming code, allowing even non-specialists to quickly automate applications by manipulating simple graphical instruction blocks.
The ABB SafeMove app, pre-installed on the teaching device on the new GoFa, features safe speed limits, static monitoring and direction monitoring, enabling close collaboration between robots and factory workers without bulky protective fences.
The GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 co-bots are powered by an OmniCoreTM controller. Thanks to ABB TrueMove and QuickMove technologies, OmniCore brings industry-leading motion control, combined with GoFa’s intelligent torque and position sensors, to ensure smooth motion for high-precision surface treatment, tightening, assembly and test tasks. In addition, OmniCore has energy saving features including energy feedback and braking energy recovery, which reduces power consumption by 20%, thereby improving sustainability.
Take advantage of innovations in ABB’s robotics ecosystem
In response to the increasing diversity of automation applications, ABB has launched the ABB Robotics Ecosystem Initiative. It integrates compatible third-party accessories such as claws, cameras and custom software with the ABB product family, including the new GoFa collaborative robot, making it easy for users to leverage the growing ABB robotics ecosystem to quickly innovate.
