Augmentus pioneered intelligent, code-free computer vision and robotic motion planning, enabling industrial robots to be programmed in minutes
On November 14, Augmentus, A global leader in smart and code-free robotics software solutions, announced the successful completion of a $5 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Silicon Valley-based venture Capital firm Sierra Ventures and existing seed investor Cocoon Capital.
Traditional robot programming is both highly decentralized and costly. Robot manufacturers use proprietary programming languages, which require customers to receive extensive training and expertise to operate their robots, resulting in 75% of lifecycle costs attributed to software and programming.
By 2030, the industrial robotics software market is expected to reach $4.7 billion with a compound annual growth rate of 27%. Augmentus’ codeless, vision-based robotic system is poised to disrupt this market. Their know-how is the eyes and brains of all industrial robots. Augmentus’ 3D camera captures relevant spatial information and feeds this data into its AI model. The platform will recommend the best path for the robot to perform its tasks, taking into account complex road conditions. This eliminates the need for technical expertise and long downtime when reprogramming robotic tools. Augmentus enables manufacturers to reduce process automation time from an average of four weeks to just 15 minutes, significantly improving accuracy and efficiency and reducing costs by more than 70 percent.
The new capital will be used to scale up operations in the United States, Europe and Greater Asia and meet growing customer demand in several verticals, including welding, surface treatment and finishing processes. The platform supports smes and large enterprises with its sub-millimeter accuracy and wide application support. By combining artificial intelligence and machine learning in robotics, the software can help users program complex tasks.
Augmentus ramped up its deployment, expanding its customer base fourfold from the previous year to cover seven countries. To date, they have provided code-free automation solutions to more than 30 manufacturers worldwide. Their customers all benefit from Augmentus’ solutions, including Fortune 500 companies such as Hyundai, Applied Materials, ST Engineering and Abrasive Engineering. The platform is compatible with more than a dozen major robotics Oems, including ABB, Kawasaki, Uao Robotics, Kuka and Nachi.
