ANYbotics will revolutionize industrial inspection by developing new features and expanding the international use of quadruped robotic labor to meet growing industry demand.
Swiss robotics pioneer ANYbotics has announced a $50 million Series B funding round led by international deep technology investors Walden Catalyst and NGP Capital. Bessemer Venture Partners, Aramco Ventures, Swisscom Ventures, Swisscanto Private Equity, Equity Pitcher Ventures, Verve Ventures and other existing investors participated. The funds will be used to expand international deployment, facilitate the development of new capabilities, and strengthen ANYbotics’ leading competitive position in robotic inspection solutions.
The investment comes amid surging demand for robotic solutions in heavy industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, power, mining, metals and minerals, and utilities. Faced with an aging workforce and labor shortages, these industries are increasingly relying on innovative robotic solutions to streamline operations, reduce environmental impact, and improve worker safety.
ANYmal is the company’s pioneering robotics platform with a high degree of mobility and rugged industrial use, a combination that is key for technology applications and not available in competing products. ANYbotics’ end-to-end solutions deliver value in operational deployments and are adopted by international market leaders such as Petronas, Shell, SLB, Outokumpu, Siemens Energy, BASF and Vale. For its ANYmal X platform, the world’s only explosion-proof leg inspection robot, ANYbotics has a large number of pre-orders and has booked more than $150 million in funding from global oil and gas and chemical companies participating in the product launch program. The purpose of the new funding is to expand sales, delivery and after-sales services globally to take advantage of strong market traction. With this investment, we will expand internationally and accelerate the development of our robots’ AI capabilities, such as manipulations for maintenance jobs, to revolutionize automated industrial operations.”
As the robotics industry evolves, ANYbotics is closely linked to leading robotics research at institutions such as ETH Zurich, the University of Oxford and Nvidia, which is crucial to maintaining its cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions.
“We are excited to invest in ANYbotics, a pioneering technology that originated at ETH Zurich and combines artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning with robotics to create highly rugged and autonomous four-legged robots,” said Young Sohn, managing partner at Walden Catalyst. This unique technology allows robots to be easily deployed in complex industrial environments, making them an effective solution for inspection applications in environments that are dangerous to humans. Looking ahead, we see significant opportunities to leverage the company’s powerful mobile platform and motion software stack to enable new use cases and expand the market it can address beyond robotic inspection.”
Nicolas Autret, Partner at Walden Catalysts, said: “We are impressed with the progress ANYbotics has made in achieving early commercial success in key verticals and building trust with renowned customers around the world. We are excited to work with Peter, Fredrik and the entire team to build the next global leader in robotics.”
“ANYbotics’ state-of-the-art technology coupled with a clear global value proposition is exciting – it empowers humans to do what they do best, replacing dangerous and repetitive tasks with fully automated AI-powered robots.” Christian Noske, Partner at NGP Capital, said: “We are excited to work together on large-scale deployment and further internationalisation”.
“At Bessemer Venture Partners, we believe strongly in the transformational potential of robotics companies like ANYbotics that are not only redefining the market, but also having a significant positive impact on society.” Alex Ferrara, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners.
ANYbotics has demonstrated an exceptional ability to develop innovative robotic solutions that meet the growing needs of heavy industry while improving productivity, worker safety and environmental sustainability.
