Under the slogan “Make a Difference”, Hannover MESse has once again organised a tour of this year’s press highlights. At this year’s Hannover MESse, invited journalists were able to learn more about the most exciting innovations before the event, including the latest products from the Harting Technology Group. In addition to the revolutionary SmEC(Intelligent Electrical Connector), the company also offers charging solutions for Formula E racing cars.
The Harting Smart Electrical Connector SmEC is the first connector with an active asset management shell
Setting new standards for industrial digitization
Together with Microsoft, SAP(software and data Evaluation) and Siemens as a user, Harting uses the “digital twin” as a real-world technology demonstration. This is based on the first connector (Smart Electrical Connector) with AAS(Asset management shell), which represents the basis of the digital twin. The connector records all relevant process and status data throughout its life cycle. Thanks to the adoption of a partial model, AAS acts as a digital twin for components, machines, plants and entire
plants that can be customized as needed, ensuring consistent design and simplification of production plans. What’s more, AAS saves millions of tons of paper by means of digital documentation. In addition, it achieves a transparent CO2 footprint and corresponding savings measures. “In the future, we will see even more potential, especially in terms of sustainability.” The circular economy, for example, will benefit significantly from these developments, “said Norbert Gemmeke, Managing Director of HARTING Electric.
The new Harting DC charging connector impresses with its exceptional performance
Improve performance with personalized, high-performance charging solutions
Harting will also work with ABB to provide charging equipment for Formula E racing cars. To this end, the Technology Group provides customers with customized charging cables. The cable combines the standard CCS2 charging connector on the vehicle side with the HAN®HPR connector that provides a high-voltage modular solution on the infrastructure side, allowing the charging cable to be removed. The accompanying Formula E racing car was one of the highlights on display at the booth. Harting also demonstrated its new high-performance DC charging connectors for the US and European markets, greatly expanding the technology group’s current DC product portfolio.
