Energy conservation and efficiency will lay the energy efficiency foundation for high-quality economic development and carbon emission reduction
2. Digital and intelligent technologies will significantly promote energy efficiency and energy transformation
3. Efficient and low-carbon development requires deepening cooperation among various industries and collaborative innovation between upstream and downstream
As an important part of ABB Group’s “Energy Efficiency Action”, ABB China Energy Efficiency Symposium was held in Beijing on March 22. More than 20 experts and representatives from the government, academia and the business community exchanged experiences and shared views on the theme of energy conservation and efficiency, interpreted the opportunities and challenges faced by improving energy efficiency, proposed that all parties work together, aggregate advantages, explore new models of low-carbon transformation, and jointly build a new ecological and low-carbon development road of green development. Increasing the proportion of renewable energy, further promoting electrification, as well as improving efficiency and reducing energy consumption are the three major paths to achieve carbon neutrality. Among them, energy conservation and efficiency is the shortest investment cycle, the fastest effect, the most economic “first energy”. Through electrification,
automation and digital technological innovation, we can further improve production efficiency and resource efficiency, and achieve a win-win situation for carbon reduction and development.
Energy conservation and efficiency improvement
In order to raise awareness of energy conservation and combat climate change, ABB has launched the #energyefficiencymovement 1 initiative worldwide since 2021, calling on all sectors to take actions to reduce energy consumption, reduce emissions, make commitments and share practices. Some 300 companies and organizations are already participating in the initiative. At this event, a number of enterprises said they would join the “Energy saving and efficiency action” to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Standards play a “push” and “pull” two aspects of the role: on the one hand through mandatory access indicators, eliminate backward and inefficient products; On the other hand, by clarifying energy-saving products, we encourage leading enterprises to drive the overall improvement of energy efficiency. Energy efficiency standards are an important bridge to transmit energy saving and carbon reduction policy signals to the industry, and domestic and foreign practice has proved that this is a very effective way.
Digitalization and intelligence are a major focus of hot discussion among the guests. A recent energy efficiency investment survey conducted by ABB also showed that nearly half of the Chinese respondents listed “lack of digital skills” as the top obstacle to improving energy efficiency. Looking forward to the future development direction of intelligence and digitalization, Professor Wang Feiyue, director of the State Key Laboratory of Complex Systems Management and Control of China and researcher of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech entitled “Digital employees and parallel enterprises: Scenario engineering and Business large Model Change energy saving and Efficiency Model”.
