Rockwell Automation and Cognite, a global leader in industrial data software, announced a strategic partnership to further unlock the value of manufacturing data and accelerate technological change in the industry. Through this partnership, Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk® next generation edge connectivity products, which connect to plant assets, operations management applications, and industry customized analytics, will be combined with Cognite Data Fusion®, Cognite’s leading industrial data operations platform. Create industrial data centers that can be used for enterprise-wide expansion.
Rockwell Automation has a strong presence in industrial automation, creating and processing data on a global scale. The partnership between Rockwell Automation and Cognite will bring to market a unique and unified edge-to-cloud industrial data center that allows people to understand operational, engineering, enterprise and visual data for use in manufacturing across different industries.
The product converts raw data into high-impact applications that make decisions and improve workflows in real time, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable operations. Following Cognite’s success in the energy industry, this collaboration will further enhance the edge-to-enterprise capabilities of Sensia, Rockwell Automation’s joint venture with Schlumberger.
“Manufacturers large and small are finding ways to capture data and derive value from it,” said Brian Shepherd, senior vice president of automation Software and controls at Rockwell. A unified information hub can provide a single source of data for all manufacturing data, without the need to invest heavily in costly proprietary platforms, and the larger a business, the more difficult it is to aggregate data from many different sources, let alone extract practical analytical insights from them in an affordable way. Our partnership with Cognite will address these issues directly.”
“We are excited to partner with Rockwell Automation to further expand FactoryTalk’s offerings and enrich the data that is critical to their applications.” Girish Rishi, CEO of Cognite, said, “Cognite’s mission is to facilitate the development, operation and scaling of industrial hybrid AI solutions, and this is reflected in this collaboration. We look forward to working with Rockwell Automation to accelerate the pace of applied analytics and digital adoption in industry.”
