2023 EPEC Industrial Products Exhibition, Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry Exhibition and the 7th China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Procurement Annual Meeting were held in Suzhou. ABB, with its latest digital innovation achievements, showcased the petrochemical industry’s full life cycle solutions that run through program design, project construction, operation and maintenance, helping petrochemical companies ensure continuous and stable production processes, achieve cost reduction and efficiency, and empower a green and low-carbon society.
Zhao Yongzhan, president of ABB Electric China, said that the development of the petrochemical industry is related to the safety and stability of the whole social industrial chain and supply chain, and the improvement of people’s well-being, but its long value chain, many product types, and wide coverage of the association, carbon reduction is not easy. ABB adheres to the road of technological innovation, green and low-carbon, strengthens the top-level design of digital transformation, promotes the application of energy management platforms, improves the digital level of electrical equipment, and does a good job in industry enablement. Relying on rich industry expertise and engineering experience, ABB helps customers cross the transformation and upgrading threshold, and releases the low-carbon potential of industry development.
At the exhibition, ABB presented the overall architecture of ABB’s petrochemical solutions from four perspectives: intelligent operation and maintenance, energy efficiency management, power supply safety, and modular power distribution. ABB ZEE600 intelligent energy management system, Smart Box for small medium and low voltage substation station manager, arc protection, rapid load shedding, power quality management, pre-installed substation and other schemes are introduced by means of display boards and multimedia.
For example, the ZEE600 intelligent energy management system enables fine management of energy use. Through accurate monitoring, statistics and comparative analysis of energy consumption, it helps users to eliminate the phenomenon of “running
and leaking”, save energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. At the same time, the system can realize the flexible energy regulation of “source, network, load and storage”, improve the local absorption rate of new energy power generation, and reduce carbon emissions.
The digital medium and low voltage distribution system physical display is also the highlight of this ABB booth, Exhibits include PrimeGearZX0 environment-friendly gas-insulated medium voltage switchgear, UniGear ZS1 medium voltage switchgear, NeoGear low voltage switchgear, MNS Digital digital low voltage switchgear, TruONE dual power switch, bus slot, etc.
ABB understands that the low-carbon transition is a long-term process. For more than 50 years, SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) has been widely used in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). SF6 itself is a potent greenhouse gas with a greenhouse effect 25,200 times greater than the equivalent mass of CO2 1. ABB is therefore committed to researching environmentally friendly alternatives to SF6 and is leading the way. Switchgear as an enterprise asset, industry users in the transformation process, often face the high cost of “air change” that is, “machine change” status quo, PrimeGear ZX0 supports SF6 and environmental protection gas, which means that users can choose SF6 insulation gas in the initial use, and at any time in the switchgear life cycle, SF6 upgrade to dry air. Thus, it is more environmentally competent for the task of medium voltage distribution in the petrochemical industry.
Innovation is the key to achieving a low-carbon transition. NeoGear low-voltage switchgear is ABB’s innovation, using a laminated busbar solution widely used in aircraft, automobiles and space stations, reducing space occupancy by up to 25%, and reducing heat consumption by 20% in such a compact space, effectively improving energy efficiency.
ABB has a solid track record in the oil, gas and chemical sectors, has rich experience in the implementation of more than 1,000 projects worldwide, and has participated in the construction of numerous national key projects in China by petrochina, Sinopec, CNOOC and Hengli Petrochemical. ABB will adhere to digital innovation, work with users to promote the implementation of sustainable solutions, enable scientific carbon reduction paths, and support China’s ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2060.
