Despite external challenges, Siemens’ patent application volume remained stable

In 2022, Siemens filed 1,735 patent applications to the European Patent Office, more than any other German company, and ranked sixth in the list of patent applications. Siemens Inventors lay the foundation for progress for customers and society and create sustainable value.

Siemens ranks first in the number of patents in the world

In fiscal year 2022, Siemens filed 2,650 patents worldwide. During the same period, Siemens created 4,650 inventions, equivalent to 21 inventions per working day. Siemens currently holds more than 46,700 granted patents worldwide.
In fiscal year 2022, Siemens invested approximately 5.6 billion euros in research and development and has 46,900 R&D employees.
