As early as 2022, Honeywell Nanjing plant achieved the transformation from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing by virtue of its digital, networked and intelligent management model, and was rated as “Jiangsu Province Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Workshop”. “The sensors can collect all kinds of data in the production environment in real time, including temperature, pressure, humidity and so on. Through these data, the intelligent manufacturing system can automatically adjust the parameters in the production process and make intelligent decisions. The quality of the sensor directly affects the source data and the results of further data processing. The sensors in Nanjing are recognized for their excellent product quality, which stems from the factory’s outstanding independent production, research and development, and process improvement capabilities.” Chai Xiaozhou, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Intelligent Industrial Technology Group in China, said that Honeywell has always practiced the development strategy of “East serves East” in China, and has met the needs of the Chinese market through a series of locally-based product development and innovation.
HWA143-TDM-PMC-V20 At the China International Semiconductor Exhibition 2023, Honeywell focused on gas detection solutions and industrial safety products and solutions for the semiconductor industry. The recently released VertexTM C and VC4 chemical paper tape gas detection systems are also unveiled, which are manufactured in Nanjing plant to provide more stable and faster technical support to ensure the safety of plant personnel and assets. “In addition, more than 100 of our VertexTM C toxic gas detectors have been successfully rolled off the assembly line in Nanjing. As a more cost-effective toxic gas detection system, this detector is based on colorimetric technology and can detect toxic gas leaks at very low concentrations in operations with accuracy of up to one part per billion. To date, Honeywell’s Vertex family of products has been adopted by the vast majority of leading users in the semiconductor industry.” Chai Xiaozhou said that in the field of energy storage, Honeywell gas detector Sensepoint XCL is originally produced overseas, so the supply cycle is long. In order to improve the supply speed and meet the supply needs of local enterprises, a cost-effective local product has been planned to be listed in July this year, and will be put into production at the Nanjing factory.
Relying on local services, Honeywell is committed to driving the development of future cutting-edge technologies with advanced technologies. Honeywell recently released the first HGuide o360C Inertial and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) integrated navigation board developed and produced by a local research and development team in China, which is also produced by the Nanjing plant. HGuide o360C Inertial and Global Navigation Satellite System integrated navigation board is the first locally developed and manufactured product of Honeywell Aerospace and Technology Group, and is a successful case of Honeywell’s “East serves East” strategy. “China is developing rapidly in the field of autonomous driving, and navigation modules are one of the key components to realize autonomous driving, which will help the industry development of high-end autonomous driving, mobile mapping and other related fields.” Said Liu Wei, vice president and China general manager of Sensing and Security Technology Division of Honeywell Intelligent Industrial Technologies.
HWA143-TDM-PMC-V20 “We hope to solve customers’ difficulties from the perspective of Chinese customers and innovate together with them.” Liu Wei said, “The competition in the sensor industry is also very fierce, but competition is actually good.” For example, our current team, a few years ago when the lack of core, lack of materials, is facing a very big challenge, but the team is doing thousands of tests every day, technology iteration and innovation is very fast. Healthy competition will continue to motivate us to do more technological innovation.”
In January 2024, Honeywell Nanjing plant was successfully selected into the 2023 Jiangsu Green Factory list published by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology. “In China, Honeywell is actively responding to the two-carbon goal, focusing on promoting the application of proven technologies in the field of sustainable development, and helping Chinese partners achieve sustainable development by continuously developing products and technologies that meet customers’ energy and environmental needs.” Chai Xiaozhou said that since the operation of Honeywell Nanjing factory, has been committed to energy conservation and emission reduction, including promoting the construction of energy management system, real-time monitoring of the operation of key equipment, fine inspection and analysis of high-energy equipment, the introduction of energy-saving new technology to upgrade old equipment, such as the introduction of energy-efficient central air conditioning system to replace old inefficient units. At present, Honeywell has four plants awarded the provincial or national “green factory” title, three of which are located in Jiangsu.
