500BIO01 1MRB150005R1/J The first Siemens Sustainable Development Forum was held in Shanghai today. With the theme of “Transformation with Unlimited development”, the forum focused on digital technology and application, and actively promoted sustainable development driven by scientific and technological innovation and open ecology. Siemens announced a number of initiatives during the forum: the official release of the Siemens EcoTech statement for the Chinese market; First appearance in Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Technology, Products and Achievements Expo (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Expo”); The Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer Partner Program was announced and the 2024 Siemens Xcelerator Open Championship was launched. The forum also featured several sub-forums and activities such as Building sustainable Infrastructure, Driving Sustainable manufacturing, and Siemens Supplier Sustainability Day.
We will inject new momentum into sustainable development through scientific and technological innovation
As a technology company that promotes innovation, Siemens continues to accelerate the application and innovation of cutting-edge technologies in the industrial field, enabling Chinese enterprises to enhance innovation and productivity. During the forum, Judith Wiese, member of the Board of Directors and Chief Talent and Sustainability Officer of Siemens AG, announced the official launch of the Siemens EcoTech Statement for the Chinese market.
Siemens EcoTech strictly adheres to ecodesign standards, including Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) data, and evaluates and information claims the full life cycle performance of products from three dimensions: sustainable materials, optimized use, value recovery and recycling. For greater data transparency, Siemens provides comparable environmental performance information covering the raw materials, product design, product use and end-of-life stages for all Siemens products that hold EcoTech declarations. Siemens EcoTech will cover Siemens’ portfolio of products in infrastructure and industry, and will gradually be extended to other Siemens-related products that meet this standard. All products with the Siemens EcoTech declaration are manufactured in facilities powered by 100% renewable energy, contributing to the company’s goal of net zero emissions from its own operations by 2030.
500BIO01 1MRB150005R1/J “The launch of Siemens EcoTech marks another important step in Siemens’ efforts to expand its sustainability footprint.” Judith Wiese said: “Siemens EcoTech comprehensively and systematically evaluates the full life cycle performance of products based on ecodesign criteria, effectively promoting information transparency, enabling customers to make informed decisions and driving sustainable development along the value chain. By providing the necessary knowledge and technology, Siemens fully supports its customers in achieving their sustainable development goals. In the future, we want sustainability to be a core element of our products.”
At the same time, Siemens debuted at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Expo, fully showcasing many digital and low-carbon innovations on its Siemens Xcelerator platform, further demonstrating Siemens’ technological leadership in enabling sustainable development in various industries through digital technology.
The Siemens Smart ECX Carbon Management platform is an important product of Siemens to promote carbon reduction in enterprises through technology. It relies on cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and other new generation digital technologies, through the collection and storage of enterprise energy and carbon emissions data, combined with the embedded energy system model and business applications, to achieve carbon data visualization and analysis, carbon emissions inventory, carbon reduction planning and other functions, to help enterprises to low-carbon transformation. The platform has a number of excellent application cases, among which the online carbon verification function has helped Suzhou Siemens Electrical Appliances Co., LTD. (SEAL) and Beijing Siemens Siberus Electronics Co., LTD. (BSCE) efficiently and accurately complete the organization of carbon emissions and product carbon footprint verification. Compared with traditional offline verification, the verification time can be saved by 50%, and the cost can be reduced, and the verification results can be traced and reused. At the booth, the DEKRA Certification Group (DEKRA) will issue the “2023 Organizational Carbon Verification Statement” and the Desigo Essentials® ELC.E14 controller carbon footprint Verification statement for the two plants.
SiGREEN Platform base and Carbon Footprint Ecological Solution (hereinafter referred to as “West Carbon Footprint”) is Siemens based on blockchain, industrial edge computing and other technologies, for different groups, different scenarios to build a rich portfolio of carbon footprint ecological applications and solutions. At the exhibition site, the Siemens West Carbon Track-Xinwanda Battery Passport digital platform cooperation launch ceremony was held, which is another deepening cooperation after the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides at the 2023 Expo, which can further promote the landing of carbon footprint solutions for lithium battery industry products. This project will help Xinwanda achieve actuarial, traceability, transparency, and international certification of the carbon footprint of its products, cope with the requirements of the new battery Law of the European Union, and escort its battery products to the sea. Siemens also launched in-depth cooperation and signed a contract with Hesteel Digital Technology Co., Ltd. to accelerate the realization of green low-carbon transformation in the metallurgical industry and help China’s steel to go to sea with high quality.
