National Instruments has introduced a new high-performance PXI Express chassis, the PXIe-1084, that meets the diverse needs of industrial automation and test and measurement with its powerful power and cooling systems and flexible module configuration capabilities. The PXIe-1084 chassis offers 18 slots, including 17 hybrid slots, each equipped with a hybrid connector type for flexible placement of various instrument modules.
The chassis’s fully hybrid backplane design allows each peripheral slot to support multiple module types to meet the needs of different test and measurement applications. The PXY-1084 offers up to 4 GB/s of PXI chassis bandwidth, with each slot capable of providing 58 W of power and cooling power, ensuring stable operation under high loads.
The PXIe-1084 chassis also features advanced timing and synchronization options, supports synchronization of external clocks and trigger wiring, and is controlled via a 15-pin connector and suppress mode switch on the rear panel, enhancing system flexibility and scalability.
In addition, the case’s forced air circulation system consists of three 210 CFM fans and one 70 CFM fan, ensuring that the power supply and modules operate at ideal temperatures.
In terms of environmental adaptability, the PXIe-1084 chassis is capable of operating at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 50°C, meeting the temperature tolerance requirements of MIL-PRF-28800F Class 3 for slots with 38 W power consumption and for slots with 58 W power consumption in the temperature range from 0°C to 40°C. In addition, the chassis is designed with a 10 MHz system reference clock (PXI_CLK10) with accuracy across the operating temperature range, a maximum slot-to-slot deviation of 250 picoseconds, a 3.3V ± 0.3V unloaded signal swing, and a duty cycle between 45% and 55%. And a maximum of 5 ps RMS phase jitter in the range of 10 Hz to 1 MHz.
The introduction of the PXIe-1084 chassis further enriches National Instruments’ product line in the PXI Express space, providing users with an efficient, reliable and highly flexible test and measurement platform that is expected to play an important role in the wave of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
