August 27, 2024 – GE Grid Solutions, a leading global provider of power grid solutions, announced the launch of the new Hydran 201Ti Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) monitor for transformer oil. With its small size, easy installation process and efficient performance, this device provides an innovative solution for transformer fault detection.
The Hydran 201Ti monitor uses continuous dissolved gas analysis technology to monitor the gas composition of transformer oil in real time, thereby providing early warning of potential failures and reducing the risk of unplanned power outages. The device uses advanced fuel cell technology and offers two gas sensor options: a “composite gas” sensor that is 100% responsive to hydrogen and sensitive to carbon monoxide, acetylene and ethylene; The other is a more basic “hydrogen-only” sensor that focuses on hydrogen production.
This fourth-generation monitor features comprehensive design improvements, including improved sensor durability, new electronic circuit boards and power supplies to make it RoHS compliant, while enhancing the reliability and functionality of the device. The addition of a local USB port and the Modbus protocol digital output through the isolated RS-485 interface further improves the device’s communication capability.
The installation of the Hydran 201Ti is simple and requires only permanent installation on a single transformer oil valve, requiring no additional piping or pumps. Its dynamic oil sampling technology eliminates the need for pumps, while its LCD display and key design make the user interface friendly and easy to operate and maintain.
In addition, Hydran 201Ti supports compatibility with GE’s Perception™ software to facilitate user download, trend analysis and in-depth analysis of transformer data. The device also has full system self-test and self-diagnostic capabilities, as well as the ability to record local data and important events for up to a year.
With the launch of Hydran 201Ti, GE Grid Solutions has once again demonstrated its innovative capabilities and technological leadership in the field of power equipment monitoring. This new monitor is not only suitable for power companies, but also for the industrial sector, helping to reduce production disruptions and cost losses due to power failures. As the world’s power grids continue to evolve and demand increased reliability, the Hydran 201Ti will provide more accurate and timely monitoring of transformer health.
