The IC694CHS392 is an Rx3i PacSystem Serial Expansion Standard I/O Backplane manufactured by GE Fanuc. This 10-slot system can accommodate 10 input and output slots. The slot occupied at the leftmost part is must be occupied by one of the following serial power supplies: IC694PWR331, IC694PWR330, or IC694PWR321. Before a module is installed, a user should ensure to set the IC694CHS392 DIP selection switch. Note, however, that hot installation and removal of modules is not allowed on the backplanes.
At the right end, the serial backplane has a bus connector provision for the attachment of optional or additional expansion cables. Note that expansion cable length should not exceed 15 meters or 50 feet. The backplane measures 5.12 x 17.44 x 5.59 inches in length, width, and height respectively and runs on 5VDC at a rated current of 150mA.

The IC694CHS392 is part of the PACSystem RX3i Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform. This hardware is specifically a 10-slot serial expansion backplane that permits the installation of additional I/O modules, allowing more I/O devices to be integrated into the control system. The IC694CHS392 uses an extension cable for connection to the CPU backplane. Appropriate serial expansion cable has catalog number IC693CBL302 with a maximum cable length of 15 meters or 50 feet. Up to Seven (7) serial expansion backplanes can be connected to the backplane hosting the CPU. If only expansion backplanes are used regardless of the number of backplanes installed, the maximum distance from the CPU to the last expansion backplane shall not exceed 15 meters or 50 feet still The IC694CHS392 can be interconnected with a variety of backplanes such as the 5-slot backplane with catalog number IC694CHS398 or the series 90-30 expansion backplane with catalog number IC693CHS392. Any combination of backplanes is allowed as long as the cable length is met, and a terminating resistor with catalog number IC693ACC307 is installed to the last backplane signifying the end of the connection. The IC694CHS392 requires the use of a power supply to provide local power to the installed modules. Compatible power supplies include RX3i Serial Expansion Power Supply, 120/240 VAC, 125 VDC with part number IC694PWR321; High capacity 120/240 VAC, 125 VDC power supply with catalog number IC694PWR330; and high-capacity 24 VDC power supply with order number IC694PWR331; this serial expansion backplane is panel mounted to the enclosure subpanel, fastened through the provided mounting tabs.
