Each 3500 rack supports up to two monitors, each of which requires a free slot to insert its corresponding DIM. The cable connection between the DIM and the display, when the display is not front-mounted, can be done from the front of the 3500 frame or from the I/O module on the back of the frame.

For applications that require cables longer than 100 feet, use an external power supply and cable adapter.

Applications that use backlit display units require the use of an external power source. There are two external power supplies: one for the 115 Vac connection and one for the 230 Vac connection. Installing an external power supply is easier with an external power supply/terminal board installation kit.

The independent mounting housing accommodates an external power supply/terminal board mounting kit. The kit simplifies the process of installing an external power supply in a separate mounting case or in a user-supplied case.
