Distribution of oil resources in my country
my country’s oil resources are concentrated in the eight basins of Bohai Bay, Songliao, Tarim, Ordos, Junggar, Pearl River Estuary, Qaidam, and East China Sea Shelf; natural gas resources are concentrated in Tarim, Sichuan, Ordos, East China Sea Shelf, Qaidam, and Songliao , Yinggehai, Qiongdongnan and Bohai Bay nine basins.
From the perspective of resource depth distribution, 80% of my country’s recoverable oil resources are concentrated in shallow (<2000 meters) and medium-deep (2000-3500 meters), while deep (3500-4500 meters) and ultra-deep (<4500 meters) meters) are less distributed; natural gas resources are relatively evenly distributed in shallow, mid-deep, deep and ultra-deep layers.
From the distribution of geographical environment, 76% of my country’s recoverable oil resources are distributed in plains, shallow seas, Gobi and deserts, and 74% of recoverable natural gas resources are distributed in shallow seas, deserts, mountains, plains and Gobi.
In terms of resource grades, my country’s recoverable petroleum resources account for 63% of high-quality resources, 28% of low-permeability resources, and 9% of heavy oil; of the recoverable natural gas resources, high-quality resources account for 76% and low-permeability resources account for 24%.
As of the end of 2017, the country’s cumulative proven geological reserves of oil were 38.965 billion tons, the remaining technically recoverable reserves were 3.542 billion tons, and the remaining economically recoverable reserves were 2.533 billion tons.
Since the early 1950s, my country has successively carried out oil and gas exploration in 82 major large and medium-sized sedimentary basins, and discovered more than 500 oil fields. The following are the main oil producing areas in my country.
