•ABB solutions ensure the power distribution stability of rail infrastructure and help promote connectivity in the ASEAN region
•ABB electrical products meet the characteristics of severe tropical climate, and the verifiable application examples win the trust of users
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed Railway, connecting Indonesia’s capital Jakarta and its fourth largest city Bandung, is a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical cooperation between China and India. With a total length of 142 kilometers and a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it is expected to be completed and put into operation by June 2023. When completed, travel time between the two cities will be reduced from more than three hours now to 40 minutes.
Indonesia is a typical tropical rainforest climate, high temperature and rainy all year round, the environment is hot and humid. In order to adapt to the climate characteristics of these complex hot tides and ensure the safe operation of power distribution equipment, the “four power” integrated intelligent power distribution cabinet of Jakarto-Bandang high-speed Railway selects power distribution equipment in strict accordance with the relevant standards and technical requirements of countries along the “Belt and Road”. “Four electric power” is the general term of communication, signal, electricity and electric traction power supply in high-speed railway construction. It is the “central brain” and power source of the whole high-speed railway.
Based on the cooperation between ABB and its partner Wuhan Xigao Electric Appliance Co., LTD., ABB intelligent power distribution solution was selected to ensure the continuity of power supply along the high-speed railway and the safe and stable operation of the electrical system after rigorous rounds of technical bidding. The solution covers low voltage components such as Emax 2 air circuit breaker, Tmax plasticcase circuit breaker, dual power transfer switch, S200 micro circuit breaker, AX contactors, etc., to provide protection against overload, short circuit, ground failure and indirect shock for the project’s low voltage distribution network.
As this project belongs to the “One Belt and One Road” project, in order to relieve customers’ concerns about additional selective coordination of on-site power distribution, ABB cooperated with ABB DOCWIN design software to select and support the construction of electrical systems with higher performance, providing customers with trip curves of selective coordination and avoiding safety hazards of tripping over grade. In order to solve the rail transit system may encounter electrical problems.
Yang Rong, vice president of ABB Electric China, said that ABB has verifiable advantages in global operation network, engineering experience in international and domestic projects, digital capability of electrical equipment and other aspects, and can conduct a wide range of project docking with enterprises in the fields of power, transportation, industry and infrastructure, helping partners to enhance market competitiveness when undertaking overseas projects. And improve the power distribution stability and energy efficiency of customers. With the deepening implementation of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, it is hoped that ABB can join hands with more partners to realize resource sharing and jointly develop more vast markets along the routes.
