The Bently Nevada* Asset Condition Monitoring 3300 XL NSv* Eddy current sensor system is designed to accompany centrifugal air compressors, refrigeration compressors, process gas compressors, and other machines requiring compact installation. The 3300 XL NSv* Eddy current sensor system consists of the following parts:
• 3300 NSv probe
• 3300 NSv extension cable
• 3300 XL NSv preprocessor 1
The 3300 XL NSv sensor system is primarily used where standard Bentley Nevada 3300 and 3300 XL 5 and 8 mm sensor systems are not available due to sink/side or rear limitations. It is also ideal for small target surface measurement applications, such as rotating shaft diameter less than 51 mm (2 in 0 for radial vibration measurement or flat target surface diameter less than 15 mm (0.6 in) for axial position measurement. The system is mainly used in the following oil film bearing machines with thin shaft or narrow side view surface:
• Radial vibration and radial position measurement
• Measurement of axial (thrust) position
• Speed and zero speed measurement
• Phase reference (bond phase *) signal
The 3300 XL NSv sensor system is designed to replace the 3300 RAM sensor system and the 3000 Series or 7000-Series 190 sensor system. When the 3300 RAM system is upgraded to the 3300 XL NSv system, the original probe and extension cable can be retained, and then the 3300 XL NSv preprocessor can be installed. When upgrading a 3000-series or 7000-series sensor system, you must replace the probe, extend the cable, and install the NSv preprocessor.
The average scale factor for the 3300 XL NSv sensor system is 7.87 volts/mm (200 millivolts/mil), the most common output for eddy current sensors. Its enhanced side-view and small-target features give it a linear range smaller than the Bentley Nevada 3300 XL Series 5 and 8 mm sensor systems; The linear range of 1.5 mm (60 mil) exceeds the linear range of the 3000 series 190 sensor system.
preprocessor
The 3300 XL NSv preprocessor has similar features to the 3300 XL 8mm preprocessor. Its ultra-thin design enables dense installation on DIN rails, as well as traditional panel installation. No special installation considerations are required. The improved RF/EMI capability enables the 3300 XL NSv preprocessor to achieve European CE certification without requiring any special installation measures. This RF interference resistance also prevents nearby high-frequency radio signals from negatively affecting the sensor system. The SpringLoc spring on the NSv preloader compresses the terminal strip without special installation tools, making the operation faster and the onsite connection very firm.
Eddy current probe and extension cable
The 3300 NSv probe and extension cable is mechanically and electrically compatible and interchangeable with Bentley Nevada’s earlier 3300 RAM eddy current probe and extension cable. The improved chemical resistance of the NSv probe compared to the 3300 RAM probe allows it to be used in a wide range of process compressors. The side-looking characteristics of the 3300 NSv probe are also better than those of the 3000-series 190 probe when the probe is spaced at the same distance from the probe target plane. 3300 NSv probe sensor shell has a variety of configurations, including armored and non armoured quarter – 28, ⅜ – 24 / M8 X 1 and M10 X 1 probe thread. 3300 NSv the probe is equipped with a standard ⅜ – 24 or M10 X 1 thread. All components of the sensor system are gold-plated brass ClickLoc* connectors. ClickLoc connector locks to prevent loose connections. TipLoc* patented mold technology ensures a solid connection between the probe end and the probe body. The probe cable is securely attached to the probe end using Bentley Nevada’s patented CableLoc* design and can withstand 220 N (50 lb) of tension. Connector protectors are recommended for head-extension cable connections and cable-preloader connections. Connector protectors prevent fluid from flowing into ClickLoc connectors and adversely affecting electrical signals
2.Technical specification
Unless otherwise stated, the following technical specifications for 3300 XL NSv precursors, extension cables, and probes are obtained under the following conditions: Temperature 0 ° C to +45 ° C (+32° F to +113° F), -24 Vdc power supply, 10 Kω load, Bentley Nevada supplied AISI 414 steel target faces with diameter of 31 mm (1.2 in) or larger, probe clearance of 1.0 mm (40 mil). System accuracy and interchangeability indicators do not apply to sensor systems that have not been calibrated with Bentley Nevada AISI 414 steel target surfaces.
