Honeywell has introduced Versatilis™ transmitters that provide condition monitoring for rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, fans, blowers and transmissions. Honeywell Versatilis™ transmitters provide measurements associated with rotating equipment to generate intelligent solutions that improve the safety, availability and reliability of industrial equipment.
Unplanned downtime due to failures and high maintenance costs are not conducive to the operation of industrial facilities. According to a report by consulting firm McKinsey, predictive maintenance services in manufacturing are expected to add $290 million to $530 million in economic value by 2030. For predictive maintenance to work properly, solution providers must simplify installation, enhance interoperability and network security, and minimize the cost of wireless infrastructure.
Honeywell’s Versatilis™ transmitter is a low-power, long-range, multivariable instrument based on the LoRaWAN® protocol. Low power consumption and ease of installation allow manufacturers to achieve large-scale deployments with lower capital and operating expenses. Versatilis™ transmitters also feature Bluetooth wireless connectivity and can be easily configured via a mobile app.
Honeywell Versatilis™ transmitters predict anomalies in rotating equipment by measuring vibration, surface temperature and acoustic signals. In addition, these measurements have other applications, such as monitoring heat exchange reliability and substation reliability.
In addition, Honeywell Versatilis™ transmitters seamlessly integrate with Honeywell’s Experion® HS and other SCADA or asset management platforms. When the Versatilis™ transmitter is used with Honeywell’s analytics software, the technology can help reduce unplanned downtime by predicting equipment failures such as asset imbalances, misalignments and bearing related issues in advance.
“Predictive maintenance of industrial facilities with real-time equipment condition monitoring is an important digital application case.” “By integrating Honeywell’s Versatilis™ transmitters into their operations, companies can leverage data-based feedback on equipment health to optimize the performance of rotating equipment,” said Achal Nath, senior director of product management at Honeywell Process Controls.
