The Austrian company MosBurger is part of the Dunapack Packaging division of the Prinzhorn Holding Group. Headquartered in Straßwalchen, it produces cardboard packaging from corrugated cardboard, individually designed according to customer requirements. Over the past few years, the company has evolved from a component manufacturer to a solution provider.
In the daily production of Mosburger, a manufacturer of cardboard packaging, when paper rolls weighing hundreds of kilograms are exchanged to produce corrugated cardboard, the potential risk to operators is high because the process requires manual intervention. To minimize this risk, Mosburger chose to work with Pilz to build a comprehensive safety solution, including Pilz’s automation system PSS 4000 and safety door switch PSENcode.
Comprehensive security and increased productivity
From the storage room, several tons of paper rolls pass through the operation area of the production plant, as the plant is built “from the back to the front” due to a lack of space. This is why each reel has to be manually inserted by the operator, resulting in a considerable loss of efficiency. In addition, due to infrastructure reasons, the plant has been re-set from automatic mode to manual mode.
Pilz’s complete automation solutions include software tools, diagnostic and visualization systems as well as sensor and control technologies. The automation system PSS 4000 is at the heart of the solution and is used in conjunction with the coded safety switch PSENcode to ensure operator safety while making the equipment more productive. Simplified workflows and reduced downtime are another advantage of the program.
Advantages Overview:
Increased productivity: Thanks to the safe, complete solution of the PSS 4000, reel replacement cycles are shorter.
Low investment cost: It pays for itself within three years due to reduced downtime.
Tamper-proof: Comprehensive, practical security concepts ensure more secure workflows
