The new development pattern puts forward higher requirements for the development of traditional manufacturing industries
Under the background of accelerating the formation of a new development pattern with domestic large circulation as the main body and domestic and international double circulation promoting each other, the traditional manufacturing industry is facing new challenges from both domestic and international aspects.
On the one hand, the requirements of the transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry are difficult to adapt to and accurately match the status quo of domestic multi-level demand. China’s regional development is unbalanced, the level of market development in different regions is also different, which makes the smooth transfer of traditional manufacturing industry between regions more difficult. According to contemporary international industrialization standards, China’s eastern coastal developed areas have entered the late industrialization, the traditional manufacturing industry is facing the pressure of inland transfer. Although the central and western regions are in the stage of rapid industrialization, they are limited by the level of market development, ecological environment constraints and regional policy conditions, and it is difficult to fully undertake the transfer of traditional manufacturing industries in the east.
At the same time, the eastern region will accelerate the construction of new infrastructure, which will have higher requirements for the technical content of the manufacturing industry, and the driving force for the transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry will be greater. While the central and western regions are in the stage of accelerating urbanization, the traditional construction industry still has a certain vitality, and the realistic economic incentives for the transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry are not strong.
On the other hand, China’s traditional manufacturing industry needs to find new ideas to expand the international market. Affected by the global epidemic, the world economic recession, the industrial chain supply chain circulation has been hindered, and the export of China’s traditional manufacturing products is also facing challenges. On the supply side, the “low-cost” advantage of China’s manufacturing industry is gradually weakening, and new comparative advantages such as labor productivity and supply chain efficiency are still in gestation. How the traditional manufacturing industry moves to the upstream of the industrial chain with higher added value in the international cycle is an important issue to be solved. In terms of demand, in the past, the main export markets of China’s traditional manufacturing products were Europe and North America, but affected by the complex and volatile world economic situation, the commodity market turmoil, these markets may shrink the demand for China’s bulk commodities. How to find alternative markets is another important challenge faced by China’s traditional manufacturing industry.
