weida battery ten maintenance and maintenance methods
The battery is an important part of the UPS system, and its advantages and disadvantages are directly related to the reliability of the entire UPS system. No matter how advanced the UPS design is and how complete the functions are, once the battery fails, the best UPS can not provide uninterrupted power supply. Do not choose inferior lead-acid batteries because of the desire for cheap, which will affect the reliability of the entire UPS system and the degree of damage to the machinery and equipment, and will therefore cause greater losses.
Factors in the service life of lead-acid Vida batteries:
1, the ambient temperature has a greater impact on the Viada battery. If the ambient temperature is too high, the battery will overcharge and produce gas; if the ambient temperature is too low, the battery will be undercharged, which will affect the service life of the battery. Therefore, the ambient temperature is generally required to be about 25 ° C, (if the number of batteries is recommended to increase the air conditioning in the room) UPS floating charge voltage is also set according to this temperature. In practical application, the battery is generally charged in the range of 5 ° C ~ 35 ° C, lower than 5 ° C or higher than 35 ° C will greatly reduce the capacity of the battery and shorten the service life of the battery.
2, the depth of discharge on the service life of the battery is also very large. The deeper the battery discharge, the fewer times it is recycled, so deep discharge should be avoided when in use. Although the UPS has a battery low potential protection function, the UPS will automatically shut down when a single battery is discharged to about 10.5V. However, if the UPS is in the case of light load discharge or no-load discharge, it will also cause deep discharge of the battery.
3, the battery in the storage, transportation, installation process, will lose some capacity due to self-discharge. Therefore, before putting into use after installation, the remaining capacity of the battery should be determined according to the open circuit voltage of the battery, and then different methods are used to supplement the battery. The spare storage battery should be recharged every 3 months. The battery can be judged by measuring the open circuit voltage of the battery. Taking a 12V battery as an example, if the open circuit voltage is higher than 12.5V, it means that the battery energy storage is more than 80%, if the open circuit voltage is lower than 12.5V, it should be replenishment immediately. If the open circuit voltage is lower than 12V, the weida battery means that the battery stores less than 20% of the electric energy, and the battery cannot be used.
4. Charging voltage. Because the UPS battery is a standby working mode, the mains is in the charging state under normal conditions, and it will discharge only when the power is cut off. In order to extend the service life of the battery, the UPS charger is generally controlled by constant voltage and current limit. After the battery is full, it will be turned into a floating charge state, and the floating charge voltage of each section is set to about 13.6V. If the charging voltage is too high, the battery will be overcharged, and vice versa, the battery will be undercharged. The abnormal charging voltage may be caused by a misconfiguration of the battery, or by a faulty charger. Therefore, when installing the battery, we must pay attention to the correctness of the specifications and quantity of the battery, and do not mix the batteries of different specifications and different batches. Do not use inferior chargers, and consider heat dissipation when installing. At present, in order to further improve Battery life, Advanced UPS adopt a three-stage intelligent battery Management program ABM(Advanced Battery Management), that is, charging is divided into initial charging, floating charging and rest three stages: the first stage is constant current balanced charging, charging the battery capacity to 90%; The second stage is floating charging, charging the battery capacity to 100%, and then stop charging; The third stage is natural discharge, in this stage, the battery uses its own leakage to discharge electricity, until the specified voltage limit, and then repeat the above three stages. This way changes the previous kind of full charge, still makes the battery in the floating state of 24h, thus extending the life of the battery.
5, maintenance-free battery due to the use of absorption electrolyte system, in normal use will not produce any gas, but if the user is used improperly, resulting in overcharging of the battery, it will produce gas, at this time the battery internal pressure will increase, the pressure valve on the battery top open, the battery will seriously make the battery burst.
6, weida battery charging and discharging current is generally expressed in C, and the actual value of C is related to the battery capacity. For example, for a 100AH battery, C = 100A. The better charging current of Vida lead-acid maintenance-free battery is about 0.1C, and the charging current cannot be greater than 0.3C. Too much or too little charging current will affect the battery’s service life. The discharge current is generally required to be between 0.05C and 3C, and the UPS can meet this requirement in normal use, but it is also necessary to prevent the occurrence of unexpected situations, such as battery short circuit.
7. During the operation of the UPS, pay attention to monitoring the terminal voltage value of the battery, the floating charge current value, the voltage value of each battery, the ground resistance and insulation status of the Viada battery and the DC bus.
8, do not increase or reduce the load of several single batteries in the battery pack alone, which will cause the imbalance of the capacity of the single battery and the unevenness of the charge, and reduce the service life of the battery.
9, the battery should be installed in a clean, cool, ventilated, dry place as far as possible, and to avoid the influence of sunlight, heaters or other radiation heat sources. The battery should be placed upright and not tilted. The terminals of each battery must be securely connected.
10, regular maintenance. After using the battery for a certain period of time, regular checks should be carried out, such as observing whether its appearance is abnormal and measuring whether the voltage of each battery is average. If there is no power failure for a long time, the battery will always be in a state of charge, which will make the activity of the battery worse. Therefore, even if there is no power outage, the UPS needs to perform regular discharge tests in order to keep the battery active. The discharge test can generally be carried out once every three months, the practice is that the UPS carries a load – the battery – better at more than 50%, and then disconnect the mains, so that the UPS is in a state of battery discharge, the discharge duration is generally a few milliseconds to tens of milliseconds depending on the battery capacity, and the mains power supply is restored after discharge, and the battery is charged.
