At present, fully sealed and maintenance-free Viada battery rooms are widely used in power supply systems,
but there are still many non-sealed lead-acid Viada batteries used in DC systems of substations. This battery in the
operation or charging process when the battery in each cell of the single group voltage reached 2.35V, it began to release
hydrogen, the higher the voltage, the released hydrogen also gradually increased. Because the proportion of hydrogen is
much smaller than the proportion of air, it is easy to accumulate on the top of the building, and hydrogen is a gas that is
very easy to burn and explode. When the concentration of hydrogen in the air reaches 4.1-74.2%, it will explode when it
hits Mars. Therefore, enough attention must be paid to the dangers of the battery room, and the following safety precautions
should be taken:
(1) The battery room should be equipped with perfect ventilation equipment, and should be checked and maintained
regularly to ensure the healthy operation of the equipment.
(2) It is strictly prohibited to install electrical switches, sockets, fuses in the battery room, and explosion-proof lamps s
hould be used for lighting.
(3) Only special tools such as plastic wrenches can be used in the battery room to prevent metal tools from acciden
tally colliding with the battery pile head to produce arc sparks.
(4) In the battery room regular charge and discharge maintenance should pay attention to:
a. Excessive current should not be used when charging, so as not to heat up too high.
b. The filling port cover of the battery pack should be fully opened to facilitate the escape of hydrogen.
c. Ventilation equipment should be put into operation.
