The acquisition helps customers more easily validate and analyze design-specific reliability during the integrated circuit (IC) design process
Siemens Digital Industry Software today announced the completion of the acquisition of Insight EDA, which provides breakthrough circuit reliability solutions to integrated circuit (IC) design teams around the world.
Insight EDA was founded in 2008 to provide customers worldwide with customized digital design processes at the analog/mixed-signal and transistor levels. Insight EDA is a pioneer in using EDA automation to solve reliability problems for specific design circuits, providing efficient circuit reliability analysis and usage models to identify specific potential circuit reliability fault areas for design, and assist in resolving related issues to help engineers achieve a successful project.
The need for circuit reliability is growing rapidly in the IC design industry, and Siemens’ Calibre® PERC™ is dedicated to reliability sign-off software that provides inspection capabilities that are not possible with traditional verification tools. The addition of Insight EDA technology will help Siemens provide end-to-end circuit reliability solutions for chip designers.
Michael Buehler-Garcia, vice president of Product Management for Calibre Design Solutions, Siemens Digital industrial Software, said: “The acquisition of Insight EDA further complements Siemens’ technology roadmap in the area of circuit reliability verification. By adding Insight EDA tools to Siemens’ Calibre PERC product line, design engineers can now more easily perform reliability checks and analyses for specific designs.”
Jesse Newcomb, CEO of Insight EDA, said: “Joining Siemens is a fresh start for the Insight EDA team and technology. In the past, we have focused on meeting the needs of a specific customer base, and now as part of Siemens EDA, we hope to bring our solutions to the broader semiconductor ecosystem.”
The acquisition was completed on November 1, 2023, and terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
