On August 29, the new R&D building of Schaeffler’s Greater China headquarters was officially opened in Anting, Shanghai. This is another important measure for Schaeffler to strengthen local R&D and innovation, reflecting Schaeffler’s commitment to continue to deepen its development in China, drive development by innovation, and serve local customers and markets for a long time.

Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of the Schaeffler Group, expressed the importance of innovation and research and development of the Schaeffler Group in his speech, stressing Schaeffler’s strong commitment to long-term development in China. Dr. Zhang Yilin, CEO of Schaeffler Greater China, said that Schaeffler continues to strengthen the construction of local research and development capabilities, actively serves the local market and customers, and hopes to deeply integrate into the industrial ecology and contribute to technological innovation and industry development.
Lu Fangzhou, secretary of Jiading District Party Committee, congratulated on the opening of the new R&D building in his speech. He hoped that Schaeffler Group will continue to give full play to its innovative advantages and brand advantages, take the
opening of the new building as an opportunity to launch more new technologies, new ideas and new products, and said that Jiading will continue to create a better business environment for enterprises and achieve better win-win cooperation.
The new R&D building is located in the Automotive Innovation Port in Anting, Shanghai, with a total floor area of about 12,000 square meters, including R&D testing and office areas. With the opening of the new building, the total area of Schaeffler’s headquarters and R&D center in Greater China has increased to approximately 50,000 square meters. The first floor of the new building is the test area, which contains a number of laboratories and test areas, equipped with advanced test benches and experimental equipment, mainly focusing on the technical research and application testing of future-oriented hydrogen technology, new energy vehicle electric drive and chassis innovative products, as well as industrial bearings, robots and industry 4.0 related fields.
The new building also houses Schaeffler’s first innovation center in China, which focuses on incubation and industrial application of innovation projects, including innovation LABS, workshop and event areas, and shared working Spaces. Through the Schaeffler New Work standard design, modern office furniture and space layout provide flexible and open space configuration for employees to exchange, collaborate and innovate ideas.
In addition to the office space, the innovation Center also provides resources, processes and system support for employees’ innovation projects, stimulates employees’ innovation passion, and creates a corporate culture of all-staff innovation. At the same time, the Innovation Center will also explore new product and business opportunities, accelerate the transformation and application of innovation results, and actively carry out cooperation with governments, universities, startups and research institutions in the field of innovation.
