Schneider Electric, a global specialist in digital transformation in energy management and automation, has announced an update on its 2021-2025 Sustainability Impact Index (SSI) program. As of the second quarter of 2023, Schneider Electric scored 5.28 points, steadily moving toward its annual target of 6 points.
The Sustainability Impact Index (SSI) program is Schneider Electric’s quantitative indicator system for measuring its sustainability performance, which is evaluated quarterly by a third-party auditor and varies over three or five years. At the halfway point of this five-year SSI program, Schneider Electric is already well ahead of expectations: Sustainable impact revenue has increased to 73% of total global revenue and has helped customers worldwide reduce or avoid 481 million tons of carbon emissions, which are expected to reach 80% and 800 million tons, respectively, by 2025.
It is worth mentioning that, as a practitioner and enabler of sustainable development, Schneider Electric not only ranked in Gartner’s Global Supply Chain Top 25 for eight consecutive years, but also ranked first in 2023; It also launched a “Zero Carbon Program” for suppliers in 2021, aiming to help the world’s top 1,000 suppliers reduce carbon emissions at the operational level by 50% by 2025 by providing technical guidance and consulting services, including 230 core suppliers in China. Schneider Electric has helped Zero Carbon program suppliers around the world reduce their carbon footprint by an average of 20%. Among them, Chinese suppliers have achieved particularly remarkable carbon reduction results, with an average carbon reduction of 21%.
First, in the fight against climate change, Schneider Electric provides clean, reliable energy in a variety of ways, helps customers reduce or avoid CO2 emissions, and won the 2023 Transparency Awards for its high-quality ESG disclosure.
Second, in terms of efficient use of resources, Schneider Electric is working with governments and ceos at the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) annual global Conference to advance the Versailles 10×10 action plan, which aims to double the proportion of energy efficiency gains by 2030. At the same time, Schneider Electric’s commitment to green and low-carbon innovation has won 11 iF design Awards for the energy efficiency and circular economy performance of its products, which has also laid the foundation for a steady increase in sustainable impact revenue.
In addition, when it comes to upholding integrity, Schneider Electric continues to promote sustainable development throughout the value chain through the Decent Work Program. When it comes to creating equal opportunity, Schneider Electric is certified through the Fair Wage Network to ensure that all employees are fairly valued and rewarded for their work.
Gwenaelle Avice-Huet, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric, said: “Schneider Electric’s sustainability strategy is long-term and durable, not just focused on short-term goals. As SSI enters the second half of its current program, as a practitioner and enabter of sustainable development, we will not only continue to explore and innovate on our own path to sustainability, but also continue to empower our ecological partners to accelerate our progress toward a high-quality future.”
