Cognex, one of the world’s leaders in industrial machine vision, today announced the launch of Advantage 182 Vision, a system designed to automate complex positioning, classification and detection tasks. The all-in-one vision system incorporates advanced machine vision, code reading, and edge learning technologies to automate a variety of tasks, including simple presence/absence detection, track-and-trace applications, high-precision alignment, and complex color detection. Oems from the life sciences industry can embed Advantage 182 vision systems into customized solutions to address challenges such as test tube detection and classification, centrifugal blood phase layer measurement, pathological sample identification, and more
“Advantage 182 is Cognex’s first embedded vision system for the life sciences industry with built-in edge learning technology,” said Kevin Ryan, Director of Product Marketing for Life Sciences. “Edge Learning takes advantage of pre-trained AI-based algorithms to automate and scale inspection applications. With just five to 10 images to train, users can quickly configure edge learning tools to solve complex applications such as classification in minutes. With its high ease of use, scalability, and accuracy, this technology will be very useful in the life sciences industry.”
In addition to edge learning tools, users can run rule-based tools on the Advantage 182 system, which enables users to take advantage of a full library of visual tools and reconfigure the system to address new applications as requirements change.
In addition to software flexibility, Advantage 182 offers modular hardware for rapid integration into existing operations and the ability to build customized solutions. The hardware components also provide long-term revision control, which protects the initial investment and enables users to reuse previous work, eliminating the need and cost of repetitive work.
All Cognex systems are not medical devices or medical device accessories and are not designed for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. Cognex offers its customers untrained deep learning vision systems. After the user or clinician has trained these systems, they can provide the test results described in this document.
