As one of the global leaders In industrial machine vision, Cognex Corporation has announced the new In-Sight 3800 vision system. Designed for high-speed production lines, the In-Sight 3800 offers a massive library of vision tools, advanced imaging capabilities, and flexible software to provide a fully integrated solution for a wide range of inspection applications.
“The In-Sight 3800 processes twice as fast as previous systems, performing tasks such as quality inspection In a third of the time it takes the eye to blink once,” said Lavanya Manohar, vice president of Vision Products at Cognex. “This high speed enables users to significantly increase production and accommodate high-speed production lines. And provide the high accuracy characteristic of the In-Sight product family.”
The new system has a full suite of vision tools built in, including artificial intelligence (AI) -based edge learning techniques and traditional rules-based algorithms. The easy to use edge learning tool solves highly variable tasks with just a few training
images to set up in minutes. Rule-based vision tools are widely proven by the industry and are ideal for solving deterministic tasks with specific parameters.
Many customers have started using the In-Sight 3800 with impressive results.
“When selecting Cognex, we expected the In-Sight 3800 to be up to 30 percent faster than the In-Sight 7900 vision system currently In use,” said Nicolas Chomel, Director of technology development at SIDEL, a leading provider of consumer packaging equipment, services and solutions. During the performance evaluation, the In-Sight 3800 proved to be 50% faster than the systems we currently use In our applications.”
The In-Sight 3800 is supported by the In-Sight Vision Suite software, a common platform for all In-Sight products that provides the EasyBuilder interface and spreadsheet development environment. EasyBuilder’s intuitive point-and-click interface guides users through the development process step by step, making it ideal for simple or common applications, while the powerful spreadsheet interface enables users to fine-tune workpiece parameters for advanced or highly customized applications.
“The flexible development options enable users to easily modify the application according to new or changing requirements,” said Manohar. “In this way, In-Sight 3800 provides a scalable solution to meet current and future factory automation needs.”
