ABB solutions ensure the power distribution stability of railway infrastructure and help promote connectivity in the ASEAN region
ABB electrical products meet the characteristics of harsh tropical climates and win the trust of users with verifiable application examples
The Jakarto-Bandung high-speed Railway, connecting Indonesia’s capital Jakarta and its fourth largest city Bandung, is a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical cooperation between China and India. With a total length of 142 kilometers and a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in June 2023. After completion, the travel time between the two places will be reduced from the current more than three hours to 40 minutes.
Indonesia is a typical tropical rainforest climate, high temperature and rain all year round, the environment is hot and humid. In order to adapt to the climate characteristics of these complex hot waves and ensure the safe operation of distribution equipment, the “four power” integrated intelligent distribution cabinet of the Yard-Wan high-speed railway selects distribution equipment in strict accordance with the relevant standards and technical requirements of countries along the “Belt and Road”. “Four power” is a general term for communication, signal, power and electric traction power supply in the construction of high-speed rail, and is the “central brain” and power source of the entire high-speed rail.
Based on the cooperation between ABB and its partner Wuhan Xigao Electric Co., LTD., after a rigorous multiple rounds of technical bidding, the project finally selected ABB intelligent power distribution solution to ensure the continuity of electricity consumption along the high-speed rail and the safe and stable operation of the electrical system. The solution includes low-voltage components such as Emax 2 air circuit breakers, Tmax MCCB, dual power switch, S200 MCB, AX contactors to provide overload, short circuit, ground fault and indirect shock protection for the project’s low-voltage distribution network.
As the project belongs to the “Belt and Road” project, ABB, in order to relieve customers’ concerns about additional on-site power distribution selective coordination and other problems, supported the construction of electrical systems with higher performance through selection with ABB DOCWIN design software, provided customers with the trip curve description of selective coordination, and avoided the safety risks of over-tripping. To solve the rail transit system may encounter electrical problems.
Yang Rong, vice president of ABB Electric China, said that ABB has verifiable advantages in global operation network, international and domestic project engineering experience, and digital capability of electrical equipment, and can conduct extensive project docking with enterprises in the fields of power, transportation, industry and infrastructure, and help partners enhance market competitiveness when undertaking overseas projects. And improve the power distribution stability and energy efficiency of users. With the in-depth implementation of China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative, we hope ABB can join hands with more partners to achieve resource sharing and jointly develop the vast market of more regions along the route.
ABB, as one of the first enterprises to actively explore business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative, has worked with Chinese enterprises to explore domestic and foreign markets. ABB has cooperated with 400 Chinese companies in more than 70 countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” in recent years, providing advanced technologies and solutions for related projects, such as Sinoma International’s cement production line in Myanmar, Sinopec’s petroleum polypropylene project in Thailand, and Tangshan Bus’s light rail No. 2 project in Izmir City, Turkey.
In the rail transit industry, ABB has actively participated in the construction of rail transit in China, providing solid and reliable power guarantee for AC/DC substations, passenger station buildings, control and signal devices, tunnels, rolling stock, and promoting inter-provincial and inter-city connectivity. Successful projects include the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed Railway, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and numerous rail transit projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Changsha.
