IAR, a global leader in Embedded development software and services, announced the launch of IAR Embedded Trust, a powerful end-to-end secure workflow for the embedded industry. With this latest version of the solution, IAR delivers on its “Security Made Simple” promise to help customers quickly and easily manage, prioritize, and mitigate potential security issues.
IAR Embedded Trust protects customers’ data and equipment through the “4A”, which includes: “Anti cloning” introduces the concept of unique identification of software applications and equipment hardware, thereby preventing counterfeiting and overproduction in the manufacturing process; “Active IP protection” and its security key management mechanism ensure that applications run only on authorized devices and only after the secure startup process of authentication. Anti-rollback includes the software security update process and checks it to prevent rollback attacks and version vulnerabilities. Authentication encrypts the identity of the device, protected data and confidential information, and runs only genuine firmware and updates, all based on a trust anchor built into each device that cannot be breached.
This means that customers can design for safety throughout the entire process from the beginning of product development to mass manufacturing with unique equipment security configurations. IAR Embedded Trust is a microcontroller-independent security solution, so customers can easily port current designs to new microcontrollers. This helps reduce development time and also helps to reuse code without having to start from scratch to add strong security features to your application.
Tim Woodruff, vice president, IAR Embedded Security, said: “With this new solution, we have significantly enhanced our offering to help customers meet security challenges and prepare for security legislation in these areas. IAR Embedded Trust features advanced capabilities that enable further innovation while addressing security vulnerabilities in embedded product development processes and embedded technologies worldwide. It can help developers strengthen security designs and establish protection mechanisms from the product design stage to prevent intellectual property theft and unauthorized overproduction by third-party contract manufacturers. Everything we do is to ensure that developers using IAR Embedded Trust fully appreciate our commitment to Security Made Simple.”
