CISSOID and Silicon Mobility today announced a further extension of their partnership to provide a complete modular silicon carbide (SiC) inverter reference design with support for motor drives up to 350KW/850V. The reference design includes CISSOID’s SiC based high-voltage power module, integrated gate drivers, and a control board using Silicon Mobility’s ultra-fast and secure OLEA T222 FPCU, DC and phase current sensors, DC bus capacitors and EMI filtering, and integrated liquid cooling. CISSOID will also sell and deliver Silicon Mobility’s electric vehicle powertrain control software, OLEA® APP INVERTER, providing customers with a fully integrated, complete development platform.
Dave Hutton, CEO of CISSOID, said: “Until now, customers have really only had two options. The first is to develop all the hardware themselves and then integrate third-party software into their design environment; This approach is time-consuming and requires a deep understanding of SiC based power system design. The second option is to buy an off-the-shelf inverter; However, it does not have the ability to fully customize the performance to the application requirements.”
Under the agreement signed between the parties, customers can now purchase a complete SiC INVERTER reference design (Figure 1) from CISSOID, while obtaining a license for Silicon Mobility’s OLEA® APP INVERTER control software and product design on top of their software applications. CISSOID will also provide technical support to integrate the inverter into the final application system.
Once the design is complete, customers can choose to purchase all materials for the entire inverter solution according to the Bill of Materials, or just the silicon carbide Smart Power Module (IPM) and control board, while other components and components such as the inverter housing can be purchased from their preferred supplier. This allows customers to integrate the inverter into the motor drive system before it is put into production.
David Fresneau, Vice President of marketing and Business Development at Silicon Mobility, added: “This presents a great opportunity for our customers to get our advanced NEV motor control hardware and software platform together with a fully integrated high-performance inverter reference design from CISSOID, which will greatly simplify the design process and shorten time to market.”
