Further enhance the capabilities of the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform to connect the real world with the digital world and accelerate the digital transformation of various industries
At CES 2024, the annual technology event, Siemens showcased the latest technologies in the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform, which aims to connect the real world with the digital world and enable customers in various industries to innovate. Siemens also announced its new partnerships in artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive engineering, and has made important breakthroughs to accelerate the industry’s industrial metaverse layout.
Roland Busch, Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens AG, said: “We envision the industrial metaverse as a digital world that is closely connected to the real world, where people can collaborate with AI in real time to solve the challenges they encounter in the real world. With the help of the Industrial metauniverse, customers are able to accelerate innovation, enhance sustainability, and adopt new technologies quickly and at scale, driving high-quality development across the industry. Siemens is proud to work with our customers and partners to bring the industrial metauniverse one step closer to our lives.”
Cedrik Neike, Member of the Board of Management of Siemens AG and CEO of the Digital Industries Group, said: “Siemens is working to make the Industrial metauniverse more accessible so that customers of all sizes and industries can use the power of the industrial metauniverse faster, more efficiently and more sustainably to turn great ideas into world-changing innovations.”
Siemens partners with SONY to create immersive engineering solutions
Siemens and SONY collaborated on an immersive engineering solution at CES that combines industrial software from Siemens Xcelerator with SONY’s new spatial content creation system containing an XR head-set display, a 4K OLED microdisplay and controller for intuitive interaction with 3D objects. This solution enables designers and engineers to create and explore design concepts in immersive workspaces, creating the relevant content of the industrial meta-universe. Siemens plans to launch the Siemens NX Immersive Designer in 2024, integrating SONY technology into Siemens’ flagship product engineering solution to enhance immersive design and collaborative product engineering capabilities.
Yoshinori Matsumoto, Executive Vice President and Head of Technology and Incubation at SONY, said: “SONY is committed to empowering creators with cutting-edge technology. In the field of spatial content creation, we continue to innovate the way users work through SONY’s proprietary motion and display technologies. SONY’s technology, combined with Siemens’ expertise in engineering, enables more immersive engineering solutions, where high-quality, realistic rendering and intuitive interaction will provide designers and engineers with an immersive creative process that will drive further innovation in the industrial meta-universe.”
Siemens and Amazon Cloud Technologies (AWS) are also working together to connect Bedrock with the Mendix low-code development platform to help businesses of all sizes and industries easily build and scale generated AI applications. Amazon Bedrock offers a base model from leading AI companies through a unified API and access to secure, private, and reliable AI capabilities. Mendix is an integral part of the Siemens Xcelerator platform and focuses on excellence in low-code development.
Siemens will also host a series of keynote speeches and exhibitions at CES 2024 to show how customers can leverage the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform to innovate in four areas: Live, Work, Play and Make:
Live: Inhab™, a portfolio of smart home energy management products introduced at the conference, enables users to control the source of energy supply at a given time and how it is distributed throughout the home. Inhab features real-time alerts, 24/7 monitoring, and energy goal setting to help users make informed decisions. As electrification grows in appliances and electric vehicle charging and solar arrays are gradually introduced into homes, highly accurate monitoring and management solutions will help reduce energy consumption and usage costs while improving safety and capacity.
Work: By combining Siemens’ immersive engineering software with SONY’s mixed reality hardware, the new solution launched by Siemens and SONY is the next generation of industrial metaverse. Red Bull Racing, as a user of the solution, joined Siemens at CES 2024 to demonstrate how it can help engineers escape traditional constraints and seamlessly integrate the physical and digital worlds through an immersive industrial metauniverse.
Play: Unlimited Tomorrow, one of Siemens’ customers, is committed to designing customizable, scalable and affordable prosthetics, while collaborating with its customers to develop cleaner and safer transportation with the help of the Siemens Xcelerator platform, capable of serving people in need anytime, anywhere.
Make: Blendhub is dedicated to solving food safety issues, using Siemens technology to successfully deploy a network to connect multi-location factories that supply food and personalized nutrition products, bringing them closer to ingredient suppliers and end consumers, enabling a technology-driven shared value chain in the global food system.
