IN 2021, Weidmuller, the global industrial connectivity specialist, launched SNAP IN, an innovative connectivity technology that has become the new standard in connectivity and is also optimized for the panel manufacturing of the future. SNAP IN can realize automatic wiring of industrial robots.
Automation and robot-assisted wiring will become a key core of panel manufacturing in the future. Weidmuller uses SNAP IN connection technology to optimize many terminals, PCB connectors, PCB terminals and heavy-duty connectors for future automated wiring.

Why can SNAP IN be adapted for robot operation
With Weidmuller’s SNAP IN connection technology, no wires are required and the insertion force required is small. No special tools are required for manual or automatic wiring. The family-owned company, based in Daymold, Germany, also designed the
sound and visual signals when the wires were successfully inserted – essential for successful automated wiring in the future.

IN addition to its technical advantages, SNAP IN provides a short, cost-effective and process reliable solution for automated cabling. The technology is extremely flexible and can be adapted to different products and panels at any time.
All Weidmuller products equipped with SNAP IN connectivity technology are wired when they are delivered to the customer. This means that the clamping point of the product is always open when it arrives at the customer’s site – thanks to the product’s vibration-resistant design, the customer no longer needs to open it.
Today, wiring is fast, safe and simple
SNAP IN enables installers and equipment manufacturers to perform the cabling process more efficiently. For example, the usually time-consuming crimping procedure is no longer necessary. Even flexible wires without end ferrule can be easily wired using SNAP IN. The installer can effortlessly insert the stripped thin strands of wire directly into the connection point. Once the wire is inserted, the pre-clamped junction triggers and closes quickly. This speeds up the workflow while saving resources and materials.
