Y-turning and advanced quick transfer capabilities help customers increase machine productivity
Low dynamic mode reduces wear and improves availability
Available in 15 – to 24-inch end-to-end keyboard and machine control panel combinations
Siemens is expanding the Sinumerik ONE “digitally native” CNC system even further. For this new generation of CNC systems launched in 2019, Siemens has innovated this year from both software and hardware aspects. With the Sinumerik V6.20 software, Sinumerik ONE has new technical capabilities that simplify operation, reduce machine wear and increase productivity. With this update, Siemens has once again demonstrated how to leverage the powerful Sinumerik ONE machine tool CNC to enable digital transformation in an efficient, flexible and modular manner.
With the new Y-turning function, Sinumerik ONE can now be used on machines with Y-axis turning and increases the feed rate by up to three times, thereby increasing productivity. In addition, new tools have been introduced, and all turning functions and cycles have been adjusted accordingly.
The Advanced Rapid Movement function optimizes transfer times. When this function is applied in cooperation with the machine tool manufacturer, the customer can achieve faster transmission between machining operations without changing the part program, increasing the machining speed by approximately 10%.
The new NCK feature for Reduced Dynamic Mode reduces machine wear and improves availability. For example, when the shaft overheats, machine tool manufacturers can use the NCK function to automatically adjust the machine to a simple operation and automatically return to full load when the overheating problem is resolved. With the support of the new function, the machine can realize the automatic opening and closing of the dynamic mode in the operation.
On the hardware side, the Sinumerik ONE further simplifies operation: a new keyboard and machine control panel (MCP) ranging from 15 “to 24” is available to match the human machine interface (HMI). At the same time, Simatic Industrial Thin Client (ITC) and industrial computer are coming, with higher performance and resolution up to 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The new Machine control panel is also integrated in Sinumerik ONE’s digital twin (Create and Run MyVirtual Machine Virtual Machine software), where the appearance and operation of the panel in the virtual world correspond to the real world numerical control system. In addition, Sinumerik ONE’s digital twin introduces a number of new features that simplify engineering and production preparation, such as: support for the second channel through the /3D option; Support to assign different colors to different tools to color code the section according to the tool used; Import the STEP format to better handle complex geometry in turning operations.
The collision detection function has also been further expanded to display all colliders as well as CNC program lines to quickly investigate and rule out collision causes.
Introduction to Sinumerik ONE
In the era of Industry 4.0, Sinumerik ONE will play a central role in the digital transformation of the machine tool industry. The CNC and PLC of the latest system controllers have greatly improved the performance of machine tool operation, cutting speed, and data acquisition and processing compared with previous generations of controllers. Thanks to the integrated Simatic S7-1500F PLC, it can increase the processing speed of the PLC by 10 times. With the Simatic S7-1500F PLC, Sinumerik ONE can be fully integrated into the TIA Portal to help standardize all engineering tasks in large plants. Sinumerik ONE is fully compatible with the previous generation Sinumerik 840D sl controller in terms of programming and operation, making system switching easier.
With Sinumerik ONE, Siemens offers the machine tool industry the possibility to easily create and apply digital twins. Production preparation and engineering departments can also benefit from digital twin technology. In addition, Siemens provides Sinumerik ONE with a comprehensive user interface that allows easy, flexible and efficient operation of machine tools of all technical types.
