The multi-dimensional description of the key operation of the manufacturing industry in the design, production, logistics, sales, service and other links intuitively reflects the development process of intelligent manufacturing in the manufacturing industry in 2021, and shows a “data map of the development of intelligent manufacturing in China’s manufacturing industry”.

According to the report, as of December ABB-CAI04 2021, more than 20,000 enterprises across the country have carried out self-diagnosis of intelligent manufacturing capability maturity through the intelligent manufacturing evaluation public service platform. According to the data of the service platform, 69% of China’s manufacturing enterprises are at the level of level one and below, the proportion of manufacturing enterprises at level two and three is 15% and 7% respectively, and the proportion of manufacturing enterprises at level four and above is 9%. In 2021, the maturity of intelligent manufacturing capability in the national manufacturing industry has been improved compared with that in 2020, the proportion of low-maturity enterprises at level 1 and below has decreased by 6 percentage points, and the number of high-maturity enterprises at level 3 and above has increased by 5 percentage points.

ABB-CAI04 According to the report, the number of enterprises participating in the self-diagnosis of intelligent manufacturing capability maturity at the provincial level and reaching the maturity level two or above (2021) is ranked, and the top 10 provinces and cities are: Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, Hunan, Anhui, Beijing, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The number of enterprises participating in the self-diagnosis of intelligent manufacturing capability maturity at the national city level and reaching the maturity level two or above (2021), Wuxi, Changsha, Suzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing are among the top five.

The “Report” selected more than 300 self-diagnosed industries as data samples for comprehensive analysis. The results show that the maturity level of intelligent manufacturing capability in computer and electronic equipment, automobiles, electrical appliances, food, medicine, special equipment manufacturing, chemical raw materials and products, non-ferrous metal smelting and other industries ranks top in China.

From the perspective of industry, the maturity level of discrete manufacturing is higher than that of process manufacturing. The proportion of discrete manufacturing enterprises at level one and below is about 67.1%, lower than that of process manufacturing enterprises ABB-CAI04 72.2%, the proportion of discrete manufacturing enterprises at level two and three is 2.5 percentage points higher than that of comparative process manufacturing enterprises, and the number of discrete manufacturing enterprises at level four and above is 2.7 percentage points higher than that of process manufacturing enterprises.

Intelligent manufacturing is the main direction of manufacturing power construction, and it is also the main path for manufacturing enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness, and the quality of its development is directly related to the overall level of high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry. In December 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other eight departments jointly issued the “14th Five-Year Plan” intelligent manufacturing Development Plan, which clearly proposed that by 2025, the maturity level of intelligent manufacturing capability will be significantly improved, and a long-term evaluation mechanism will be established to encourage third-party institutions to carry out intelligent manufacturing capability maturity assessment, and research and release industry and regional intelligent manufacturing development index. In this regard, the relevant person in charge of the China Electronic Technology Standardization Institute said that it will unite the forces of all parties to continue to strengthen the application and promotion of intelligent manufacturing capability maturity standards, give full play to the role of standards enabling, and support China’s intelligent manufacturing level to a new level.
