Honeywell has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Green Solutions Group (TGS), a Vietnamese renewable energy company, for the Cha Wing Green Hydrogen Project to build Vietnam’s first green hydrogen plant in the Mekong Delta.
1336-B025-AA-EN-GM1 Honeywell will be responsible for providing a package of proven technologies for the project, such as project automation design and management, energy management systems required for the energy transition, including battery storage systems (BESS), to help TGS integrate renewable energy into the green hydrogen plant.
The MOU was signed in November 2023 at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, UAE, in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Thanh.
“Honeywell’s battery energy storage system will play 1336-B025-AA-EN-GM1 a key driving role in the Charong Green hydrogen project.” Ramanathan Valliyappan, general manager of Honeywell Process Controls Asia Pacific, said: “The system will both extend the renewable energy supply of the TGS solar farm beyond the end of the daylight hours and also extend the wind power during low wind speeds. “By enabling grid stability from renewable energy sources, Honeywell’s battery storage system platform enables green hydrogen production at Chayong by ensuring sustainability while reducing costs and carbon footprint.”
In addition to battery storage 1336-B025-AA-EN-GM1 systems, Honeywell will provide a broad range of solutions and expertise across the entire hydrogen value chain to help TGS operate safely and profitably while meeting its sustainability goals.
“Our collaboration marks a key step in green hydrogen production at the Charong plant.” Huynh Thi Kim Quyen, Managing Director of TGS, said, “The Cha Rong Green Hydrogen project is a major project for our company and an important milestone in Vietnam’s commitment 1336-B025-AA-EN-GM1 to decarbonizing the energy sector with renewable energy solutions. Through this project, we are trying to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
Honeywell’s commitment to become carbon neutral for all of its operations and facilities by 2035 builds on the company’s decades-long tradition of innovation in helping customers meet environmental, social and corporate governance goals. In 2022, approximately 60% of the company’s new product research and development will be based on improving customers’ environmental performance and social benefits.
