On March 14, Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor of electronic components and industrial automation products focused on introducing new products, began selling Laird Connectivity’s Sera NX040 1734-IB8S Ultra Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Power (BLE) modules. The Sera NX040 module is Laird Connectivity’s new UWB and BLE labeling solution designed for the next generation of precision granular positioning and proximity positioning in industrial, consumer, medical, automotive and IoT applications.
Laird Connectivity’s Sera NX040 UWB and BLE modules feature a tightly integrated hardware and RF design optimized for battery-powered applications to reduce total BOM costs. The Sera NX040 module combines NXP Semiconductors’ excellent Trimension™ SR040 UWB chipset with Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52833 system-on-chip (SoC) processing and Bluetooth LE capabilities. Improve positioning and orientation by adding near Field communication (NFC) and UWB capabilities to provide more than the basic beacon or rangefinder BLE capabilities based on RSSI. Antenna options include an internal PCB wiring antenna for UWB and BLE and an external antenna connected via two MHF4L connectors.
1734-IB8S The Laird Connectivity Sera NX040 development Kit can be used to demonstrate the features and capabilities of Sera NX040 UWB and BLE modules. The kit includes a development board with USB and MHF4L connectors and NanoUWB, 2.4GHz FlexPIFA and NFC antennas. To run the bidirectional ranging demonstration, you need two development kits and a BL654 USB adapter (451-00004). To run the 3D positioning demo, you need four development kits and a BL654 USB adapter.
