The construction of new infrastructure (hereinafter referred to as “new infrastructure”) is undoubtedly a hot topic this year, and one of the focuses of discussion at the National two sessions. Meng Dan, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and director of the Institute of Information Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed out that the “new infrastructure” has brought new development opportunities, but also brought new challenges to cyberspace security.
SPIET800 With the continuous advancement of “new infrastructure”, all walks of life will increasingly serve the public in the form of “network +App”, and the impact of network security will become more and more profound. “Cyber security is a prerequisite for the development of the ‘new infrastructure’.” Meng Dan believes that today, cybersecurity has changed from a “subsidiary” function in the past to an important part of the information infrastructure.
In this regard, Ni Guangnan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, told the Chinese Science Journal: “The ‘new infrastructure’ should consider adopting China’s safe and controllable information technology system from the beginning to form a new generation of security architecture to ensure the security of infrastructure.”
New technology brings new security issues
During the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, people have quickly entered a new digital life such as online trading, telecommuting and online education. Behind this transformation is the rapid development of the digital economy on the “new infrastructure”.
When our lives are inseparable from the digital economy, the issue of cybersecurity is relevant to everyone. As Zhou Hongyi, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and chairman and CEO of 360 Group, said, new technologies such as the Internet of things will connect the virtual and the real, and the attacks from the virtual world may become the harm of the physical world, such as the blackout in Venezuela and the hacker attack on the power grid in Ukraine.
SPIET800 Zhou Hanmin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee, has also been concerned about the role of the digital economy in the country’s economic development. Considering that the application of new technologies will bring new security risks, Zhou Hanmin suggested the introduction of national standards for digital economy “security infrastructure.”
Feng Dan, a deputy to the National People’s Congress and dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, although there are no suggestions on network security this year, in terms of the development of blockchain technology and industrialization, she proposed to “take the ‘new infrastructure’ as an opportunity to build a blockchain platform, realize the security sharing of multi-cloud platform data, and consolidate the foundation of big data economic development.”
Ultimately, “Cyber security depends on new security issues brought about by new technologies.” Fang Binxing, an expert on cyberspace security and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, told the China Science Journal that new technologies inevitably lead to new security problems.
