In the process industry, pressure measurement technology is proven, flexible, stable, and durable, especially under harsh operating conditions: whether it is corrosive media, hygienic applications, explosion-proof areas, or sudden temperature changes, dew, high temperature and high pressure.
Pressure transmitters generally have two kinds of metal and ceramic measuring components, in the overload strength, the high requirements of the measuring components under the working conditions, ceramic measuring components of the pressure transmitter is a more ideal choice, this is why?
50049911-001 01Abrasion resistance
In the harsh working environment, metal measuring elements have great limitations, friction, corrosion, high temperature, wear and other factors will cause its damage. The same cannot be said for CERTEC® ceramic measuring elements, which are extremely hard, 10 times harder than stainless steel. Whether it is the most demanding production conditions, sludge containing metal debris or sand and gravel in the medium, CERTEC® ceramic measuring elements are easily qualified for any measurement situation requiring high temperature and pressure resistance and excellent chemical stability of the instrument.
Similarly, common cleaning agents, even physical cleaning with a brush, do not leave a trace on the measuring element.
02Minimal zero drift = long-term measurement stability
Pressure transmitters using CERTEC® ceramic measuring elements provide reliable measurements with virtually no zero drift. In terms of long-term stability, it goes far beyond metal measuring components.
Zero drift is a phenomenon that gradually appears on pressure measuring instruments. In the process of long-term use, it is very common for the pressure transmitter of metal components to have zero drift due to the aging of parts. The thin measuring diaphragm will deform after a certain period of use, and as time goes on, it will become increasingly unable to return to the original setting of zero. At this time, the user needs to recalibrate to compensate for zero drift.
The CERTEC® ceramic measuring element, on the other hand, has almost no zero drift, and its material hardness limits the deformation range, which significantly reduces the degree of material aging. As a result, 50049911-001 ceramic measuring elements with self-calibration capability can significantly extend the rezero cycle.
03No conducting oil
Ceramic measuring elements are dry measuring elements without conducting oil as a pressure transmission medium. The metal measuring element is different, its pressure is indirectly acted on the sensor by conducting the oil. As long as conductive oil exists, there are potential risks. It may unknowingly leak into the production process as the diaphragm breaks, affecting the final product. In the production process of the process industry, the risk of pollution can cause many problems, so oil-free meters are becoming more and more popular. In addition, oiled measurement systems are also less resistant to vacuum at high temperatures.
Pressure transmitters using CERTEC® ceramic measuring elements do not have these problems, and their pressure is directly applied to the diaphragm, requiring no conducting oil at all. Therefore, this technology can meet the requirements of oil-free processes and completely eliminate the risk of contaminating the product.
