Cloud computing integration

The introduction of cloud platforms, such as the cooperation between Kulun Electronics and Alibaba Cloud, provides EDA tools with key functions such as elastic computing, secure storage and fast updates to meet the needs of processing big data and complex computing. In CRIO-9040 early 2024, Sierchip’s collaboration with Tencent Cloud further demonstrated the potential of cloud computing in optimizing EDA services, accelerating the chip R&D and go-to-market cycle by creating a high-performance, low-cost design and simulation platform.
Platform and IP collaboration
Another key trend is the convergence of EDA and IP. Modern EDA is not just a collection of tools, but gradually evolved into a platform that integrates IP resources, which not only facilitates the execution of the design process, but also promotes the sharing and horizontal connection of industry resources. Although the level of intelligence is constantly improving, it still needs manual support to provide services, and the construction of the service platform can provide professional consulting, design services and related customized services to meet the individual needs of customers.
International giants in EDA and IP layout has a deep history. Synopsys has been in the IP space since 1992, also because of the needs of customers. Despite a long period of losses, the business has risen to become the second largest IP vendor in the world, behind Arm. In March, Synopsys further expanded its semiconductor IP product line with the acquisition of Intrinsic ID. In China, the EDA field has also witnessed a new ecology of cooperation, and at the beginning of this year, Sier Core cooperated with core technology and Strange Moore to jointly create a domestic EDA+IP win-win new CRIO-9040 ecology.
These developments not only improve the performance and application range of EDA tools, but also bring higher development potential and market competitiveness to the entire chip design industry.
