Start-ups and growing companies submit ideas for natural language programming, skill learning and automated decision making
• Winners will have access to ABB’s global network, cutting-edge technology and the opportunity for a long-term partnership with ABB
ABB Robotics has built on the success of previous start-up challenges to drive innovation and collaboration
VZ3000 UAZ3455/3475 ABB today announced the launch of its Robot AI Startup Challenge 2024, a global competition to advance the development of artificial intelligence solutions in robotics as part of the ABB innovation ecosystem. Following the last tournament, ABB in January 2024 acquired Swiss-based start-up Sevensense, a provider of advanced Autonomous Mobile robot (AMR) artificial intelligence 3D visual navigation technology. ABB Robotics’ latest challenge will foster innovation and collaboration between ABB and the world’s leading start-ups and growing companies.
“Innovation has been at the heart of ABB’s robotics business since it was founded 50 years ago,” said Mark Scone, global president of ABB Robotics. Start-ups and growing businesses have great potential to drive technological progress. Through the ABB Robotics AI Startup Challenge, we have the opportunity to collaborate with the most creative and forward-thinking minds in the field to shape the future of robotics and automation.
Collaborate with top talent in AI and robotics
The ABB Robotic AI Startup Challenge invites participants to submit breakthrough ideas and solutions in three key areas:
• Natural language programming
• Skill learning
• Autonomous decision-making
VZ3000 UAZ3455/3475 ABB is now using AI to develop a new generation of robots that are more intuitive, adaptable, easier to use and more efficient, driving industry change, enhancing enterprise resilience and making employees’ work more rewarding.
Participants in the challenge will have the opportunity to work closely with ABB’s world-class engineers, access cutting-edge robotics, and use ABB’s global network of customers and partners. The winning team will receive a cash prize of $30,000 and the opportunity to establish a long-term partnership with ABB to jointly explore strategic and investment opportunities to enter the market.
The ABB Robotic AI Startup Challenge is now open for public application. Startups and growing companies with AI and robotics expertise have until June 12, 2024 to submit their proposals.
The ABB Robotics AI Startup Challenge is part of ABB’s innovation ecosystem, driven by collaboration and the transformative potential of emerging technologies. ABB takes relevant initiatives to identify, support and expand promising start-ups in various industries, deepen cooperation with them, and promote innovation. These collaborations can bring new solutions to the market and help ABB create a more sustainable and efficient future.
