Littelfuse Corporation (NASDAQ: LFUS) is an industrial technology manufacturing company dedicated to powering a sustainable, connected and safer world. The company announced the expansion of its ITV2718 line of surface-mounted lithium battery protectors. These fuses protect the lithium battery pack from overcurrent and overcharge (overvoltage) conditions during fast charging.
The latest ITV2718 measures 2.7 x 1.8mm and offers a 5-amp, three-terminal fuse. This innovative design uses a combination of embedded fuses and heater elements to react quickly, interrupting the battery pack’s charging or discharging circuit before an overcharge or overheating situation occurs.
810-073479-215 ITV2718 battery protectors are suitable for a wide range of consumer electronics products, including:
• Game console
• Automatic emergency call system
• Portable router
• Portable modem
• Smart phone
• Laptops and tablets
“By further expanding our family of ITV lithium battery pack protective fuses to include these new devices rated at 5 amps, Littelfuse offers electronics engineers even more options for the next generation of consumer electronics designs.” Stephen Li, global Product Manager at Littelfuse, said, “Continuing to expand our surface-mounted, three-terminal battery pack protectors portfolio allows us to deliver even more powerful and innovative battery protection solutions to these product development teams.”
810-073479-215 The ITV2718 provides the following key benefits:
• Prevent battery pack overcurrent and overcharge damage through fast response time and low internal resistance;
• Surface mount design simplifies automatic assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBS);
Meet industry safety requirements through UL and TUV certifications to accelerate compliance approvals;
• Halogen-free and RoHS compliant eco-friendly components.
Working principle
The embedded three-terminal fuse cuts off the circuit immediately in case of overcurrent. The heater element is embedded directly below the fuse element and generates enough heat to blow the fuse once the IC or FET detects an overcharge.
availability
ITV2718 is available in roll-tape package with a MOQ of 4,000 units. Sample requests are accepted through authorized Littelfuse resellers worldwide.
