Basler Electric has introduced a new generation of digital voltage regulators, the DECS-150, a high-performance automatic voltage regulator designed for AC synchronous generators. The DECS-150 further enhances the utility, functionality and flexibility of the DECS product family with its compact and robust construction and powerful features such as automatic tuning, optional PSS (power system stabilizer), built-in programmable logic and advanced communication capabilities. The regulator’s innovative auto-tuning function automatically measures system response and creates PID parameters to ensure optimal system response, significantly reducing commissioning and system setup time, saving time and money.

The DECS-150 digital excitation control system provides precise excitation control and machine protection in a compact package. It guarantees adaptability for many applications through configurable contact inputs and outputs, flexible communication capabilities, and programmable logic implemented using the provided software. The high flexibility and powerful features make the device particularly useful in projects where the machine is in parallel with other generators and/or utility systems, where grid code requirements are very demanding.

The DECS-150 is suitable for McCoarte brushless generators from ECO38 to ECO46, including the mid and high voltage series ECO46 and ECO49. In fact, the DECS-150 can pass through PMG3, MAUX, and even shunt excitement indifferent. The DECS-150 provides excitation power through a filtered switching power supply module with pulse width modulation. It is capable of delivering 7 amps at 70°C ambient temperatures and has a forced capacity of 11 amps for 10 seconds.

The DECS-150 digital excitation control system provides a comprehensive solution for industrial applications, including precise excitation control and machine protection. The system is suitable for a variety of applications, especially in parallel generator projects where strict grid code requirements need to be met. The DECS-150 is compatible with all Mecc Alte brushless alternators, including the mid and high voltage series ECO46 and ECO49. The system provides excitation power through pulse width modulation technology, is capable of providing 7 amps of current continuously at ambient temperatures of 70°C, and has the ability to deliver 11 amps of current in 10 seconds. In addition, the DECS-150 has a voltage regulation accuracy of ±0.25%, can reliably operate with nonlinear loads, and has a true RMS three-phase generator voltage sensing/regulation function. The system offers four excitation control modes: automatic voltage regulation (AVR), Field current regulation (FCR), power factor regulation (PF) and reactive power regulation (var).
