ABB’s UNITROL 1020 is a compact and powerful automatic voltage regulator in the UNITROL 1000 series, designed for small and medium-sized synchronous generators and industrial equipment. This regulator leverages advanced microprocessor technology and IGBT semiconductors to deliver current outputs up to 20 ADC for continuous operation. The UNITROL 1020 maintains high performance in a wide range of temperature and vibration conditions and is fully compliant with DNV and UL standards.
The UNITROL 1020 has built-in dual-channel support for advanced load sharing between machines running in parallel. In addition, it has rotating diode monitoring, automatic synchronization, and a variety of integrated communication options, including Ethernet and USB. These features make the UNITROL 1020 useful in power plants, Marine electric propulsion, auxiliary power supplies, diesel locomotives, port cranes and mining trucks.
The design concept of ABB UNITROL 1020 focuses on user convenience and equipment stability. It comes with an intuitive local control panel that displays AVR status, active limiter, and measured values, while allowing parameters to be changed through local control. The measurement and analog or digital input/output of the UNITROL 1000 series can be freely configured and set up via the CMT1000 software or a local human-machine interface.
The automatic voltage control of UNITROL 1020 uses an adjustable PID controller, the power factor and reactive power controllers use PID control algorithm, and the excitation current regulator uses PI control to achieve accurate regulation. In parallel and island operation, the UNITROL 1020 also enables reactive power sharing between parallel generator sets, with automatic synchronization and voltage matching.
The high reliability and stability of the ABB UNITROL 1020 make it ideal for a variety of harsh industrial environments, while additional features such as data and event loggers facilitate fault analysis and rapid troubleshooting
