Motorola MVME7100-0173 is a high-performance VMEbus single-board computer (SBC) designed for high-end applications such as industrial, medical, and defense/aerospace. It is powered by NXP MPC864xD system-on-chip (SoC) with dual PowerPC e600 processor cores and clock speeds up to 1.3GHz for superior processing power.
The single-board computer is equipped with up to 2GB of DDR2 ECC memory and 128MB of NOR flash, as well as optional 2GB or 8GB of NAND flash, providing support for applications that require large amounts of data storage and fast processing. The MVME7100-0173 has four Gigabit Ethernet ports, supports 10/100/1000Mbps network connections, and a USB 2.0 controller for easy integration of cost-effective peripherals.
The MVME7100-0173 also has the 2eSST VMEbus protocol, which enables a transfer rate of 20MB/s on VMEbus, which is 8 times higher than the VME64, while maintaining backward compatibility with VME64 and VME32. In addition, it offers dual 33/66/100MHz PMC-X sites that support expansion via industry standard modules and features 8x PCI Express expansion connectors for PMC-X and XMC extensions.
In terms of environmental tolerance, the MVME7100-0173 offers models with an extended temperature range (-40°C to +71°C), as well as enhanced seismic resistance, allowing it to maintain structural and operational integrity in harsh environments. In addition, the single-board computer is RoHS compliant, supports jumper free configuration, and is equipped with an onboard temperature sensor and JTAG interface for easy connection to diagnostic tools.
Software support for the MVME7100-0173 includes MOTLoad firmware, which provides power-on self-test, initialization, and operating system boot capabilities, as well as a debugger interface similar to SMART EC’s previous VMEbus boards. It supports the Linux operating system, and the VxWorks operating system is available through Wind River.
Typical applications of this single-board computer include but are not limited to industrial automation, medical devices, aerospace and defense electronics, etc., providing high-performance, highly reliable computing solutions for these fields.
