National Instruments has introduced a high-performance PXI Express system controller, the PXIE-8880, based on Intel Xeon E5-2618L v3 processors. It has a 2.3GHz base frequency, 3.4GHz Turbo Boost frequency and 20 MB Intel Smart Cache. The PXIE-8880 controller is equipped with three-channel DDR4 1866 MHz memory that supports up to 24 GB of memory expansion, as well as a 240 GB or larger serial ATA SSD that supports data transfer rates of up to 600 MB/s.
Designed for processor-intensive radio frequency (RF) modular instrumentation and data acquisition applications, the PXIE-8880 controller provides a rich I/O interface, Includes two 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and an integrated hard drive and other peripheral I/O. In addition, the controller supports PCIe Gen 3 technology and connects to the PXIe-1085 chassis via x16 and x8 PCIe links, providing 25.6 GB/s of system bandwidth, significantly improving overall system performance.
The introduction of the PXIE-8880 further expands National Instruments’ product line in the PXI Express area, providing users with a more powerful and flexible test and measurement solution. The high performance of this controller makes it ideal for industrial automation and test and measurement applications that need to handle large amounts of data and high-speed communications.
