The ICS T8100 is a Trusted TMR (Triple Module Redundancy) controller rack from Rockwell Automation designed for safety-critical applications in industrial automation. The rack features triple redundancy, where three independent processors execute the same program in parallel, to ensure that the system can be safely driven to a safe state in the event of a failure. The T8100 can detect faults by itself, and if a fault is detected, the system automatically shuts down.

Rockwell Automation has announced that, effective April 23, 2018, the T8100 controller rack will be discontinued and no longer available for sale. For customers of the affected products, the official recommendation is to remove references to these products and recommend the use of T8100C as a direct replacement.

The T8100 rack supports up to two Trusted TMR processor modules and up to eight Trusted TMR interface modules, providing a range of diagnostic and troubleshooting tools to help maintain and monitor system status. These features make the T8100 ideal for safety-critical applications such as process control, machine control, and power production.

In addition, Rockwell Automation offers the Trusted Communication Interface Adapter T8153, It provides convenient access to Communication ports for Trusted Communication Interface Modules, enabling external systems to communicate with Trusted systems. The adapter offers two 10/100BaseT connections and four RS422/485 connections, as well as two RS232 connections (one of which is full RS232).

In terms of installation and maintenance, the modules of the T8100 rack contain electrostatic sensitive components. Therefore, precautions must be taken when handling ESD. In particular, during the installation process, it should be ensured that the exposed connector pins are not touched, and under no circumstances should the module housing be removed.

For applications that require Analog Output, Rockwell Automation also offers the Trusted TMR Analog Output Module, Model T8480, a 40-channel analog output module that also features triple module redundancy. Suitable for industrial applications that require highly reliable control signal output.

Taken together, even though the T8100 frame is no longer in production, Rockwell Automation still offers replacement products and a wide selection of accessories to meet the high safety standards and demands of industrial automation.
