National Instruments recently introduced a high-performance PXIe embedded controller, the PXIE-8133. Based on a 3.06GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-820QM processor, the controller is designed for PXI Express systems and provides powerful processing power and high-speed data transfer performance, making it ideal for processor-intensive, modular instrumentation and data acquisition applications.
PXIe-8133 controller adopts PCI Express technology and provides four x4 Gen 2 PCI Express interfaces. When combined with PXI Express chassis such as NI PXIe-1082, the total data throughput of the system can reach 8GB/s, and the bandwidth of a single slot can reach up to 2GB/s. This high-speed data transfer capability enables engineers to transmit large numbers of I/O channels simultaneously, suitable for larger and more complex data recording and playback applications.
In addition, the PXIe-8133 controller offers the following features:
Dual-channel 1333 MHz DDR3 memory with 2GB of RAM as standard and expandable up to 8GB.
Integrated 7200 rpm hard drive with support for SSD and RAM upgrades to maximize performance.
Two 10/100/1000BASE-TX Ethernet ports and four high-speed USB ports are available.
Includes a variety of peripheral interfaces such as ExpressCard/34 slots, DVI-I video connectors, IEEE 1284 ECP/EPP parallel ports, GPIB (IEEE 488) controllers, and RS232 serial ports.
Pre-installed operating system and drivers, as well as hard-disk based recovery images, for easy system maintenance and recovery.
The introduction of the PXIe-8133 further expands NI’s PXI Express product line, providing a high-performance, highly reliable solution for automated testing and data acquisition. Whether you’re building a new system or upgrading an existing one, the PXIe-8133 provides stable and efficient support.
It is worth noting that the PXIe-8133 controller also supports multi-tasking and uses Intel Hyper-Threading technology to split four physical cores into eight virtual cores, significantly improving the processing power in a multi-threaded environment. In addition, the controller also supports Turbo Boost technology, which automatically increases the processor frequency according to application requirements to further improve performance.
Overall, the introduction of the PXIe-8133 embedded controller provides an ideal choice for industrial automation and control system scenarios that require high-speed data processing and powerful processing capabilities.
